It sounds to me like Ich (white spot). Others here have far more knowledge than me and will be able to give you more advice but I think you should get to your petshop first thing this morning and get some white spot cure. I believe this can save some fish if its used soon enough. Cheers Judy

Just to prove that I do know something ........... well, I think I know it ...... that is called dowelling. Although I think dowel would rot fairly fast. Pegasus suggested I join rocks by doing the same thing, but using short pieces of an old felt pen case as the joiner. Cheers Jude

I don't know what's wrong with them, I'm just learning myself. But if you haven't done so already, I would start doing some water changes. Perhaps about 20% a day for few days. If this is too much I am sure someone more knowledgeable will correct me. You probably alredy know this but if you use tap water, you should also use a chlorine remover. Cheers Judy

Most of you know I'm a beginner and know nothing ........ LOL But my understanding of airstones was that they disturbed the surface, therefore allowing the oxygen do something - disperse or escape or circulate or whatever. I have one in my tank because I like the effect. Cheers Jude

Cees, the Dept of Internal Affairs has excellent resources on not for profit organisations - what the difference is and what type you should pick. Its talking about incorporated societies vs trusts so I'm not sure if its what you need. It also has info on treasurers, chairs etc and what their roles should be. Hi everyone Just thought I'd let you know the java fern I rubber banded to rocks and driftwood has stuck beautifully. However, the java moss adhered to the rubber band instead of the rock and came off with it ............... LOL I might have to rethink this and tie it on with cotton Cheers Judy

I got sent this link today, it seems like a great way for beginners to work out what fish they want. Not sure if they are all available in NZ though. Click on the red, blue, yellow or green fish to find the type you want. Green fish are good community ones. Click on the name of a fish to get a brief description and links others from the same family. Cheers Judy
