  1. Great photos bg. I enjoyed looking at them. Caryl, I hope you aren't coming down with the same bug Ian has - he's very miserable with it Cheers Judy

    Anubias Nana

Thanks Caryl, that would be really great. I will send a pm with my address. Cheers Jude (who is getting quite a garden now, her tanks are looking good while her real garden is being ignored)

    Anubias Nana

I don't think I can get to tonight's meeting. Would you be able to put in my apologies if I am not there please? I will still try to make it but its looking doubtful Cheers Jude

    Anubias Nana

Thanks fins, I will follow that link up And thanks Shae, I will take you up on the offer if nobody else has any for sale Cheers Jude
  5. Sorry if this should be in a different forum - wasn't sure where to put it. I would really like to buy some Anubias Nana - there is some advertised on Trade Me but its $10 and I would have to pay an additional $10 to join up first. $20 seems a bit steep Is there anyone out there who would sell me some? Cheers Judy
  6. Sorry Ballistic, I think I kinda hijacked your post - didn't mean to. I haven't seen anyone local advertising plants on Trade Me although I haven't been watching carefully. I have seen one person but I think they are from Rangiora. Cheers Judy
  7. I looked them up on the web and like the sound of the Anomalochromis thomasi - is there anyone who has them for sale? Cheers Jude
  8. My thanks to everyone involved, it was a great weekend. Now that you do know how much work is involved in organising something this big perhaps it would be possible to parcel out some jobs to other clubs - I am sure many would be willing. I was thinking of things like the Marlborough club helping pack up - that was a great thought and something I hadn't even thought about. And I don't know what is involved although I could see there was a huge amount of organisation involved ..... so I don't know what, if anything, could be shared with other clubs, but maybe its worth thinking about. Cheers Jude (who would love to see another show in Napier real soon)
  9. My plants are lush and green and look good. I am no chemist but nitrogen is often found in plant fertiliser I think. Is that related to nitrites and nitrates? And generally speaking, any poo is good for plants ........... LOL Cheers Judy
  10. No, they are thriving. Why?
  11. Thanks Shae. I already have a tank which is propagating plants - mainly so I will have enough when I can finally get a big tank. I have bristlenoses in it and will be adding some other algae eaters. This is for two reasons - the fertiliser aspect, and keeping the algae down. As far as fish poop being good fertiliser goes - you all should see my potplants now that I give them aquarium water! Cheers Judy
  12. Yes, thanks Shae, I do have java moss and lots of it is already wrapped round rocks. Thanks for the thought Cheers Judy
  13. Yep thats exactly what I mean. One tank for plants, just propagating what I already have. Only buying another plant if its one I want anyway .......... etc etc. I don't imagine having rows of tanks with different plants in each one! What I really fancy doing is growing plants on driftwood and stones ....... that way I can wander around collecting driftwood and I would have a great excuse for all the stones I bring home from each holiday .......... LOL Cheers Jude
  14. Oh, and I don't want to spend anything setting it up ........... LOLOLOLOLOL
  15. I've been considering doing it, but only on a very small scale and more as a hobby I can just potter at - don't want a lot of work and not really expecting a profit ............ LOL Cheers Judy

    riccia

Does anyone have some riccia I could buy? I like the look of it. Is it easy to grow? Cheers Judy
  18. That's great - I want some. Would they be tough enough for grandson's tank? LOL For those of you who don't know - grandson is three and fed his fish salt and vinegar crisps .......... LOL Cheers Jude

    base for rock wall

One day you'll get a smart fish and then you'll be in trouble!!!!!
  20. I know this is a bit off topic for breeding but these fish sound nice. Will they survive in warmer water - 25-26C. And do they have any bad habits like gobbling up all the plants? Cheers Judy

    base for rock wall

Oh dear Don't forget, I am a little old lady ............. not sure if I could lift a sledge hammer   I thought I would follow Pegasus's advice about building the wall - plan it out, use a masonry bit to drill holes and insert joiners like cut up bits of old felt pens. I glued schist years ago when we had a fish tank, it diidn't last cause the surface is so flakey and dusty. Even with a good scrub it feels dusty. I made it with lots of holes so the fish could swim in and out. It was cool till it fell apart! I like the idea of the pot glued behind it but what do you do when you want to catch a fish that's in there? LOL Cheers Judy

    base for rock wall

Thanks for that Matt. I might need some more but I'm hoping not. The bits I have are small and squarish - they originally came from a floor to ceiling fireplace surround - ugly great monster it was! When we took it down most of it was still in great big lumps, concreted together - but I salvaged all the small bits. They are mostly 2"-3" in size. If I got more I imagine it would be in bigger slabs - is it hard to break up? Cheers Judy

    base for rock wall

Thanks Luke, I was concerned the bricks might do that Regarding the slate vs schist issue - I already have schist Cheers Judy
  24. Ian and I could take you, Interfecus. We will be going sometime on Friday - don't know exactly when. And you would need to be patient cause we muck around and keep stopping for coffees and very seldom go straight where we're going .......... LOL Cheers Jude
