    Oh No!!

Thanks tsar, thats a really kind offer. It sounds as though its going to be ok but I will certainly call out for help if I have to lift it. I just love being part of this group - everyone is so willing to help. Jude

    Oh No!!

Cool, and yes it does have a thick piece of poly under that tank. And its only urgent because I'm impatient - I'm on leave and was looking forward to playing around with the planting etc. Cheers Jude

    Oh No!!

I need advice urgently - I'm all ready to finish setting up the second hand tank I bought and we did a test fill last night. When the tank is completely filled the water level is about 1/4 inch higher at one end than the other. The tank measures 4' x 2' x 2' approximately and is made from 10cm glass. There are braces around all four edges at the bottom of the tank and the same at the top, with another running across the centre. The stand is extremely heavy. It has metal framing and I think is made from construction ply with a rimu veneer. This tank is a monster, I am dreading finding someone to help me lift it if we need to put some packing under one end of the stand. The water line won't show when the hood is on but will this put too much strain on the tank? Cheers Jude
  5. Where did you se................................... Never mind.
  6. Thanks, sounds like the best option is to put it in the sump tank. Cheers Jude
  7. I bought a second hand tank complete with sump. It came with a brand new pump which says it can be used either submersibly or out of the tank as an in-line pump. Is there any reason why submersed would be any better than in-line - or vice versa? Cheers Jude

  12. What about old concrete laundry tubs? Although they might leach into the water and they would have had detergents etc in them. However if they've been sitting outside for years they would probably be ok Cheers Jude
  13. I bet if she does list some she will get different answers from different people    I always want to pronounce platy as plate- eee because that's the way its spelt but everyone else says platt (rhymes with splat) - eeee. And to me, if it should have two t's if thats the way its said. I guess so long as others know what you are talking about thats all that matters And I'd say Pan akkk too, Sharn   Cheers Jude
  14. Would using an airstone to disturb the water surface help by allowing more oxygen into the water and letting co2 escape? Or would the C02 have disappeared by now anyway? Jude

  19. How big would the PDF file be? I'd be happy to receive it by email - that would save time and costs. Perhaps at the next AGM the constitution could be changed to allow for paper based and computer based versions? If people wanted CD versions they could burn their own from the email. Just my thoughts Cheers Jude
  20. and its fine with me - I hadn't replied because I thought you asked for those who objected to let you know ....... Cheers Jude
