Ok so no gravel. Can I use the silica sand that hollywood sell instead or is there something else I should use. Would Really appreciate any input especially from people that keep goldfish. I used to keep marine never had goldfish before. Many Thanks..

I have a 375 liter tank that I want to put goldfish in. Whats best for the fish sand or gravel for the bottom.. I've read different things on both. Also what lighting is best t5 or t8.

Congrats mcrudd I think thats good for only two weeks. My doctor always says slower is better for maintaining weight loss and to aim for 2kg a month. I know its not much but its better than putting on.. I also have been trying to loose weight but due to medication and mobility problems its very very slow. I am happy if I can loose 2kg in a month. I use a air walker for excercise. It can be as gentle as you want or hard as you want by taking bigger or smaller strides and tightening or loosening the screws on the side and using or not using the arm bits. . Due to shoulder injury I can't use the arm bit so just hold on to the front. I got mine of trade me for $10 and use it for 15 minutes twice a day.

There is two skunk loaches in the main tank. Have a large clown loach who is now all on his own in a separate tank which want to close down and so want to introduce him to the main tank. He is considerable bigger than the skunk loaches.

can you keep clown loaches with skunk loaches. Can someone point me in the right direction or answer this please. Thanks

hrv filters need replacing every two years, price is dependent on how big the system is. Just make sure you find out when the last filter change was. HRV normally send a reminder when its due.

Our back door has a hole in the glass for a cat door but has a security screen door on outside of it. Front door is wooden door but again security screen door on outside of it.. So wondering if you can have a cat door put in the security screen door. If so who would I get to put it in.

I used to collect rainwater in a 50 litre plastic bin. Then would pour it thru filter wool into my jug for topping up that catches any gunk thats ended up in the water.

my sister has an angel which after looking on the net seems to have some form of internal parasite. what is she best to treat the tank with. She has already lost one angel in exactly the same way rest of the tank is tetras. Angel just hovering in the back of the tank won't eat started with a wound on body which got bigger. Wound has now stopped getting bigger.. She treated the tank with melafix when the wound appeared she thought the angels had been fighting but they were a mated pair. Now looks like has weird pimples on it. Definately not white spot too big. Today started breathing rapidly and gasping at the top. this is what happened to the other angel before it died. Please help.

I had this problem trying to remove paint from the back of my tank tried scraping just wouldn't shift no matter what I did even scraping with a blade wouldn't touch it. :evil: Gave up then this week went into local harware store spoke to gentleman there and he told me about product called Back to nature Hi speed ready strip Its a new water-based technology no methylene chloride and non flamable and absolutely no smell and safe to use. Wow what a product :bounce: painted on hour later black blackboard paint just peeled off with a old algae scraper. Have managed to get all the paint off my 4 foot tank in a afternoon. You can tell when you hit a spot you havn't applied the stuff too you come to a halt. Just put more stuff on waited an hour then away I went again. Its amazing. Thought worth letting you know incase anyone wants to take paint off their tank.

thanks everyone. Can't believe how much algae on the wood its only been in there for 3 weeks :evil: Algae fix is that safe for the discus? I'll probably also get a bristle nose and couple otocinclus for ongoing maintenance

My wood has green hair algae on it looks yuk. Don't want to use chemicals so wondering what algae eaters or cat fish I can put in with discus.

I'm wondering what colour tubes people use on their planted discus tanks. I've just set up a planted discus tank and I'm wondering what colour tubes I should be using for the best effect.. Light is a T5 unit with 4 x 4ft Tubes. not very impressed with the colour of the tank.

thanks to Bryan from origin who after working in his shop all day yesterday then went out of his way to come over and set up my new discus tank for me I now have a lovely new set up with a beautiful discus swimming in it. Looking forward to you getting in more discus so I can fill the tank.
