    Tank Hood

i made one out of pine covered in ply that was fairly chunky due to poor design for a four foot tank still going strong i would have made a few variations to design, for example no need for cross bracing as its only a stupid hood for a fish tank not the piling for the house. and i would have painted it etc before i filled up the tank and put the lights into it, cause now i cant be bothered
  4. setup a small test tank and try some un iodised seasalt. i know every one says it wont work and i tend to agree, but cant hurt to experament
  5. has the niger been nipping?? it will stress out the coral and can even kill it if it continues.
  6. ask chimera how he fixed his. thats quite heavy youll be needing something fairly hefty. does any one know if use of pottery would effect water chemistry at all?

    HELP

the purigen would have cleared up the water maybe allowing more light in making the corals expell some zoox. i dont think the purigen would effect corals like carbon

    brown algie

the one you posted was refering to using live rock and doing water changes to keep as much life as possible during the initial cycle, i think with base live rock the water changes defeat the purpose of cycling

one thing you will find people on this site agree on, (probably the only thing), is that a skimmer is the most important peice of filtration equiptment for a marine/reef aquarium. melon bay is in auclkand??? ask a reefer in your area for advise as to where is best to collect water if your going to use natural salt water

also depends on your stocking levels. i ran an 80ltr tank for 5 months with no algae problems but it was lightly stocked and had well cycled rock. when i added a skimmer the corals improved, so a skimmer is better than no skimmer.
  23. i like your aquascape, but you need more corals go buy some, i give you permission
