  1. thankfully heating this winter cost more than my little reef tank i can now justify having a bigger reef tank wife and children will just have to go cold next winter (that or find a more economical way of heating the house)
  2. whats the purple little head poking out??? baslett??? still got the red algae, is it going at all??

  5. at the moment i am using 20k aqualine bulbs and i will be going to 10k (to get the punch) suplemented by actinic t5's (for the colour and general light spread) comes down to what your wanting to keep and what you like the look of

  13. do you feed the part you take out to your tank?? and replace it with saltwater from the tank or do you need a fresh supply of asw?

    C02 Bottle

get the biggest one that you have room for. what do you have in your tank bruce??? you may not even need a calcium reactor if youve only got soft corals. If youve got fast growing LPS or stonies then its a good idea
  17. no thats flat worms
  18. no reason you cant have a sump in the cabinet, might need to cut some holes but you can do it. you dont need a sump but make sure you can get to your equiptment with out moving rocks or stuff
  19. dont buy anymore pumps before you look into alternatives, like tunze streams or seio's, they pump alot more water for the price and give a better type of flow. powerhead type pumps will only give intense flow in one small part of the tank, where as a tunze or seio distribrutes it very evenly over a greater area
  20. no problem with having a sump in the lounge, im going to have mine in the lounge, westy1 has one of the quietest tanks around and his sump is under the tank in his lounge
  21. i dont think the wierpros are up to a tank that size, you may want to consider a chunkier skimmer my new tank is going to be 1200x500x750 nice width front to back to be able to create something nice with the rockwork and not to deep to require huge amounts of lighting
  22. if your male has been by its self for any decent length of time then the chances are its a female. they change from sexually immature to male then to female. once the dominant male/female is removed the juvinile/male with mature to the next level
  23. im keen on seeing how t5s affect my acro colours, it wont be a good indicator when i setup my big tank as they are still recovering (should say starting to recover) from the brown out. the tanks that use t5s seem to have a nice edge to them
