  1. and what ive done so far for the cabinet, i ve put on a bit of stain and looks good, so once i get some energy and time ill sand it up and finish it up
  2. here's the base of the stand, big thanks to paul (slappers) for his assistance in this one.
  3. yep i saw that when i moved every thing out of my 4 footer into a BB tank
  4. the equilibrium part makes sense, thats why i asked wether the water would be dirty if the rocks are. im still deciding on BB or SSB for the new tank, in the end i think that i will go with BB at the start at least cause its easer to add sand than it is to add starboard

    high mg

the acro's growth will increase with good Mg and algae also as i have seen in my tank when i added it ( abit overkill though in my case)
  6. does the same apply to rock?
  7. is the water "clean" at the end of the day its the water quality that counts not where the sand is
  8. do you consider the reefs "dirty"
  9. i guess it depends on what your trying to acheive, a sterile environment or natural reef setting. i like abit of compromise, as long as there arent any cochroaches im sweet
  10. we'll get your tank cleaned up paul, what colour you going to paint the baclk of your new tank? and to stay on topic bristle worms
  11. i have aspirations of owning a dirty tank

    Big rip

6-8 months :-? how many newbies would hve the patience for that? im far too cultured to pee in a tank, id pee into a cup and then chuck the cups content in.
  13. i wouldnt feed an anemone on purpose especially if it has clowns to take care of it. i feed my lps mysis shrimp after feeding the tank or at night

    Big rip

not to mention the nasty brown crud that comes out.
  15. no argument here about the anemone's, but my lps respond well to feeding, for example my caulastrea grew alot faster when i was feeding them, i havent fed for a while now cause im lazy and as you said pies they still look fine and will be happy enough. some like tubastrea need it to survive and if you dont feed them they will die.
  16. some corals absolutly need feeding but they are few and far between, tubastrea etc. most lps corals benefit from target feeding as well

    Aiptasia

just a little bit more i noticed the same thing, but it did the job in the end

    Aiptasia

give it a really good shakeup, when it hits the saltwater it solidifies abit
  19. in aucks is almost as easy to find a good supply of live rock as it is to find base rock
  20. well ive got all the wood and ill be finishinng the stand this weekend. at the moment im perving at the tangs on liveaquaria to see what im putting in there, i really would like two smaller tangs like a kole and something else but i really dont fancy the yellow tangs all that much, how about a chevron tang???? they are nice or maybe a large wrasse cause they have some stunning colours
