  1. you said you wanted something different, you dont see many damsels in the reefs here.
  2. get a damsel. what kind of butterfly is it?
  3. just back from pauls house to check out the new tank (and from the shop for some maple syrup) tank looks nice and big, great spot for it in his lounge too, good to get an idea of the size of my new tank as well
  4. true, i think alot of it has to do with the maturing process of reefers in NZ, some people have been doing it for ages (reef/steve/pies/chris) but most of us are fairly new and are moving on from our first real setups, to something better designed or bigger (chimera,me) and the nice big mature tanks attract new people (and the shops too, ben doing a good job fixing up the display at jansens) so whos upgrading or just upgraded or setting up?? Me Slappers Fay Chimera and Pies (been a while now) TM-came out with a stunner today Misnoma Tel Tom Gunners nano who am i missing. i know theres one or two
  5. yeah if its a choice between a three foot and a four foot, then go the four, wont cost much more and the added swiming space lets you have different fish (which is part of why im upgrading)

    New Reef Tank

Well done. What are the little grey things that the rocks are sitting on?
  11. i think the look i like most is see through on both sides. but for in wall it depends on the aquascape on whether blue or black looks better.
  12. No problem with disclosing prices (other than to my wife ) I still need to hear back abou the final price but it shouldnt be too much more.
  13. yeah i'd have to agree that the bacing on one of the tank he made me was overkill, have decided to go with reefs recommendation to do the sides in the diamante as well, figured i might as well pay a little more to do it well. there might be a hold up waiting for the glass though
  14. now ive got a sore neck, good stuff.

    Salinity

yep as reef said. Pay attention to what your measuring it with as well, some of the floaty type hydrometers can be out by quite alot
  16. Check with reef what the air tap should be turned to as well
  17. the skimmer wont work properly untill the SG is correct
  18. nope, doesnt look like its setup right. Is the water fresh or salt??? if its fresh water that would explain the bubble size if its salt there is diffinatly something wrong.
  19. medium/high bet that took a while to upload on dailup
  20. how did you fill it up? 20 litre buckets???
  21. medium light and flow, they dont like intense flow or light and will take a while to adjust to new environments
  22. the JBL nanocubes (boyu in NZ i think) have a back partition for the heater and other stuff. the secret of the sump is good design to create easy access and facilitate maintanence.
