    new fish

after a very extended search for the perfect companion for my Percula clown the LFS has come to the party and ordered one for me i beleive he got it from Reef, and i went in today to see if he had any new stock in and there it was, along with a nice rock covered in blueish and yellow polyps ( ) they are now going through the stages of getting to know each other (doing some shakes and chasing) ahhh bliss
  4. take pies up on his offer, his tank is at the perfect stage for you to see what yours should be set up like. its the exact same idea on a smaller scale
  5. the sump wil cool it down alot. at the moment its just air cooled and it havent gone up much at all, my halide is quite high over the tank as well, as its alot of light for such a small tank it doesnt really make a difference
  6. my allowed is half self imposed, as i dont want to move a big tank. other things have priority at the moment though, (baby)
  7. thanks doc how is your planning coming??
  8. ultra nano is what im going for i thought if going in the tank then it could go under the rock work and reef rack (as i think ill be using some form of eggcrate design) i wasnt worried so much about the space as i was performance, from what ive seen a closed loop is the more common usage. if as a closed loop the pump would be right behind the tank and the scwd either in or outside doesnt really matter does it??
  9. Hey for my new nano i'm trying to plan the best place, my options are at the mo, to either put it on the return from the sump, or have a closed loop or just have the pump in the tank itsself ?? best place?
  10. lol caryl, the metamorphesis shocked me to, no big tank for a while. i'm not allowed untill we have our own house
  11. anyone have a scwd that theyd like to sell??
  12. by the way its a H. Crispa or sebae anemone its going to tank up most of the tnk eventually
  13. well from what i understand its a combination of a few things,, stress from transit and quarintine, lack of light/flow. i dont know how many make recoveries, but i would think given the right environment there shouldnt any problems in them making a recovery, but as with any creature there will be the examples of things that dont want to survive or are past apoint of return
  14. yeah you did, but i said it would be fine i was surprised at how fast it regained colour though
  15. heres the before (when i got it) and heres the after (now) its doubled in size and gotten a nice colour to it (its darker than the photo makes it look)
  16. do you think i could fit a dolphin in my nano? my wife really likes them oh and lions (but only little ones) imagine how scared you would be though if it happened to you, dolphin or not
  17. viva i nani very doable not much specialized nano equiptment in nz though, so its better to adapt other things that have the same purpose.
  18. oh yeah the over flow will be at the back so that the tank can be veiwed from three sides where should the return be??
  19. heres the basic idea that ill be adding to over the next few months. heres afew issues i have, the skimmer is quite large and the sump is mainly used to house it. it makes haveing baffles and so forth very difficult to use. i want a very simple design (ie brian proof) i want water to come down the overflow to the sump where it will be heated and skimmed (probably have a canaster filter to into the sump cause i dont want ugly pipes into the tank) what should i look at doing with the sump to make it work effectivly (i will add the stuff suggested to the pic)
