  1. i think everyone agree's that i drilled tank is best but i havent heard anyone say that you can drill a full tank when i got my tank drilled (it was empty) i had to take it in to the shop, they used a drill press with a hose going the whole time
  2. thats very similair to the overflow box i was suggesting which effectivly works on gravity (siphon)
  3. my brother in law's a plumber so i think ill be hitting him up for some supplies soon (not for a skimmer) how big is the skimmer you made?? how much junk does it pull out??

    new tank

ok 1) first of all does any one have suggestions for the dimensions?? i was thinking 70(long)x50(high)x 50(front to back) kind of cubish yet deep enough in high and back to front to do some nice things in 2)with all your experiance what shape tank is easiest to aquascape and get good flow and lighting for??? i will be using the 150 mh i have and can add pc/t5 to suppliment if needed
  7. thanks chimera, i thought it was you that had the brother in law ( i remember seeing it in the private section but because its thirty days later its not there any more) ill put some numbers down and get back to you
  8. you can make an overflow box (siphon) (drilling in an operational tank would be nigh on impossible)
  9. oh by the way my female clown is getting alittle chubbier in the tummy area
  10. thats a good read, i think brine shrimp pumped up on a phytoplakton culture is the way to go now to get some green water
  11. i did think the workmanship that i could see on your thread as very high, would you reccomend going to a cabinet maker or a glazier (i didnt think cabinet making was a skill common among glaziers)
  12. where is the best place to get a cabinet made to go under my new tank???? (obviously not many of you will know places in hamilton but in general who does the best job and prices)
  13. good lick droping a skimmer thats builtinto the sump and not breaking the sump its self as well, i see your reasoning Suphew, i thinks its a really good idea, if a big company picked it up i think it would be awesome, save people double buying and alot of time
  14. thats exactly why i like it, with white sand that leather up the front would not even stand out, but with the black sand it backs it look incredible i doubt that id be able to find it here though
  15. send me the photo chris and i can put it up for you, ive seen that some leathers are very picky (tempremental) some do very well and some dont i got one that started dieing in a few days and all the others i have opened up straight away and extended the polyps with in hours of being pu tin the new tank one of my leathers closed for three weeks and then came back when i reshuffled its position (i think the torch was stinging it at night)
  16. not much light there, but from what i can make out it looks really nice. how tall is the tank??
  17. i agree with the no NZ sand though Pies, is it possible to buy that sort of sand in NZ??
  18. well its been a while since ive been to kawhia, but last i can remember there was no rust at the beach, i havent added any sand or even gotten the tank yet so dont worry, im just asking questions, one thing that puts me off is that it wouldnt act as a ph buffer just so that you can see what i was thinking about have a look at the link here http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/ ... uarium.htm i still havent decided on the final dimensions of the new tank but it will be about 100litres with my 88l as the sump thanks for the offer chimera, the argonite sand (white coarse stuff) is what i was planning on if the black sand didnt turn out to be suitable
  19. howdy when setting up my new tank i am going to have a substrate i think i might go for a black one first of all is the iron sand on the west coast usable or is therre a type that you can buy?? if not ill just use some white stuff, will the new sand cause a new cycle to happen?? what is the best way to approach it??
  20. youll do fine try photobucket (easy to use)
