doesn't look right to me, they have the rounded "baenschi" headshape, the jacobs have a more pointy nose I think.

just had a go at getting some pics of them but they were a bit jumpy and washed out. They should be more relaxed tomorrow. I did manage to get some nice ones of the dragon bloodmales though.

doesn't look like a joacob to me
  8. That is quite a nice male. What are you feeding them? I brought 3 pairs a few months back and ended up with 4m 2f. had one female hold for a few days but nothing since then. I am starting to think my lithobates are infertile, they breed every month and she only holds ofr 2 days.
  9. i'm sure they will be fine, the males can fight a bit but I have a group of 8 that have grown up together and all are fine.
  10. I had 10 demasoni in a grow out tank, left them for a while, counted them the other day, down to 5!!! no other fish in that tank have died for ages. Quite disappointing as they are real kool looking fish.
  11. dragon bloods are going well afrikan, 3m 3f, females are all very fat, hoping for some breeding soon, maybe a waterchange will set them off.
  12. I had a female hold for about 2 days, fingers crossed for next time.
  13. Mekhaela from the ones you sold me the dom. male is just about coloureding up, blue flecks all over him, they haven't bred yet, they will be going into a "breeding tank" sometime soon.
  14. hopefully mine will breed soon too, females both looking good and fat.
  15. you'd better breed those red empress 8)
  16. Well, you could do an awesome african cichlid display with heaps of fryeri and some big synos, lots of peacocks and haps. Otherwise marine qwould be good but pricey. Amazon with discus and stuf would be awesome if you have good planting and metal halides, otherwise IMHO it doesn't look "green" enough. I say either go full planted or rocks. I'm not really into americans, good size tank for them and would look kool but malawi's have better colours
  17. oh, Caryl You're the one that's meant to take the pics
  18. just leave her in there, if she is getting harrased you can move her to a holding tank. I usually take the babies off females at 2 weeks but you might prefer to let her hold full term.
  19. mine were from you too ooa. yes there were some macros- I though they were nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus or something? there were a few female comps holding there too.
  20. OK, I have a tank as you can see below, it is 1325 long x 790 high x 710 back. But I have found out that the glass on the front is too thin for how high the tank is, (it's only 8mm, everything else is 10mm). I am going to get all the fish out of the tank (sometime soon) and I am going to break apart the tank and cut it down so it is only 600mm high. That will take it down to about 530 litres filled 3cm from the top. I has a 3 foot sump with a little bit of media, a via aqua 2300 pump and 2 pvc pipe overflows down the back, also has a metal stand painted black and a macrocarpa light hood which I have yet to finish with 2x 4 foot tubes. It would be great as a display tank, I am only getting rid of it because I find 4 foot tanks easier to work with. HOW MUCH WOULD IT BE WORTH? Any help would be much appreciated :bounce:
  21. looks like a good tank, is a shame we don't have more red empress over here, I absolutely love them but can't seem to get hold of any
  22. that's good new, all the infertile eggs should have gone by now
  23. there are quite a few around, don't think they've been on the importer lists lately, maybe someone could clarify this?
