  3. Ok i was looking at my 800litre tank this afternoon and i noticed that my female tropheus duboisi was holding (i actually thought it was a male but have now changed my mind) anf the only other fish that hangs around that end of the tank, i dominant kinda and is kinda the same colours as a duboisi is the male johannii. has anyone else ever had this happen to them>?? should i see what the fry turn out like?? (please note there is only one duboisi in the tank so they aren't pure duboisi's.) BTW if anyone has a tropheus duboisi male for sale please contact me or even if you have a lone male that you want to breed with. thanx Malawiman

  6. Last Saturday (21 may) my blue lumpheads (cyrtocara moorii) spawned for the 3rd time, the last two times she has spat out the eggs and all of the other fish have eaten them, but this time i managed to catch her at night time and put her in a holding tank without her spitting out the eggs. The next morning i decided to put some rocks in there to make her feel more secure but this was a bad move, she was scared by my hand being in the tank and spat out all of the eggs. I left the eggs there for an hour to see if she would pick them up, but she didn't so i got an eye dropper type thingy and picked up all of the eggs one by one and put them in a container with water from the tank and a drop or two of tonic. in the end i counted 65 or so. i got a piece of wire and attached the container to the side of the tank. then i put an air stone in there just to get some flow going and to imitate the females "churning" motion. i am doing 50% water change on the container twice a day just to keep the water fresh. the next day (25th may) i picked out one eggs that had gone from the normal tan colour to a faded green, this eggs may have been fertile or just got ruptured. this morning (26th may) i went out to the fishroom and discovered that all of the eggs had grown a small knob with two blck dots on it (little heads to any slow people  ) and strangely one of the eggs must be developing faster than the rest because one of them has developed a tail where none of the others have so hopefully this time i will get a successful spawn of little blue lumpheads. i will keep you guys updated and i will try and get some pics but the camera (even in macro mode) wont focus on the container unless it is 30cm or so away :-? i will post again when all of them have grown tails. 8)
