    lithobates

I have 4F and 2m. they breed so much now i feed the fry to my peacocks. The same with the jag fry. Great protein for conditioning
  2. Man you where lucky. Great you saved them all. It always seems to happen to the most expensive ones. I lost 40 large Tropheus.D white bands due to failed pump. Only one survived. My male of 13 years Mike

    coral rock

hi DO NOT ADD BLEACH unless you want dead fish Just rinse with cold water or sit in bath tub over night. (the rock that is) The fish will eat the brown algae and the salt, not to worry. Not enough to cause problems
  7. hi Dont bother feeding the fry until the eggs sacks are completely gone otherwise you just end up polluting the water. I just put my fry in another small tank set up ready to go and use the same water when i strip the female. Fry just sit in small tank till egg sack are gone and they are free swimming. I dont really change water till the fry are feeding then its every 3-4 days.
  8. Hi Ranjeet. Ikolas looking good. Have anyone of yours held yet? One of my females has held twice now but keeps spitting after 4-5days. Guess still to young. Did you finally get hold of some Kapili's.??? I see some in your fourth pic. Got my 4 with the fonts. They all get along really well.
  9. I have three males and two females. They not as agressive as most people think. If you only have one female then you asking for trouble. But prepared to have a large holding tank as when they spit fry expect about 80 or so. Most of the time I feed the fry to other fish.

    My new Africans

Hope the 2 Melanochromis Auratus arent a pair as the female wont last to long if the male wants to breed. If they are a pair try getting more females. QUICKLY
  11. In my fish tank. But only fry and what ive heard the parents arent doing to well. So lucky I got hold of some.
  12. My 2cents worth. Very much a "P.Demasoni" not to be confused with Cynotilapai Afra which is in NZ
  13. Just joking about shipping down to NZ Most are seperated but the ones that are together are just in large six foot tank. When iam ready to breed I put them in a seperate tank to let them do their stuff unless iam around and happen to see them breeding. If I see a female holding and I didnt see them breed then I strip the female. With the females in the six footer, I only mix if i can tell them apart otherwise you will end up with hybrids. Good luck. Hope you get them. MIke
  14. Hi GeeTee These, like any Aulonocara are pretty peaceful fish. Best to keep ratio of about 1 Male to 3 Females. If you get afew their will always be one dominant male whose colours will look the best. I have about 10 various Aulonocara species and never have trouble if kept in groups. I dont have Ruben Red so can you send some down my way 8) Mike
  15. I say they all hybrids. Cross between Copadichromis and Aulonocara species. Where did you purchase the first 4 (pics)? and how much can I ask?. As for the Copadichromis on TradeMe $55 is cheap. Ive seen this fish and its offspring and they look awesome. At least this fish is pure. If you want good breeding stock then you pay for it. Its always better to do your homework before you buy. What pisses me off is when you go down to your LFS and you see a tank full of Aul. species and you read a sign listing 4-5 different Aul. in one tank, how on earth are you suppose to pick the females. You have a one in five chance to get it right and if you dont "HYBRIDS" If I where you I would bite the bullet and distroy them. If you sell them some one will just end up breeding them again.
  16. They are importers and retailers
  17. Got my pair from Redwoods. Never heard of Wonderworld
  18. Have they got Lwanda in stock at the moment? By the looks of it we must be the only ones with Peacocks
  19. All cool Malawis But more interested in Malawi Peacocks (Aulonocara Species). Have a few but I know the importers had a few on their list which I missed out on. Kribkrazy, Got a breeding pair of OB's with about 100 fry. Not to fussed about these guys as they are hybribs (man made). Guess they look alright, but if any one breeding these guys make sure the females look like Peacocks, as there are ones out these that look like Zebras.( rounded head). Had a pair of Iwanda's but the Male jumped the tank. So got a female as well. These guys are awesome, so you should be on the lookout for a male so we can get the numbers up in NZ. MIke
  20. Hi Thats right Frenchy, Borleyi are Utaka. Peacocks are Aulonocara and from different parts of the lake. With sexing Borleyi you might have to wait till they grow a little more as it does take time before the males colour up. I had to wait till they where about 8-10cm before mine changed colour. The male that is. Mike
  21. Hi all Just posting this site for a matter of interest. Just want to see what sort of Malawi Peacocks are out there in New Zealand. Havent seen anything new for some time. Mike
  22. Where did you buy a cleaner shrimp for $40???
  23. And your opinion does not really mean much so I would not have even posted it. People like you make me sick as I have seen your tank pictures and it is a real joke. I bet you aren’t even successful in your life so you have to take people down to your level so you feel better for your inadequacy. The Hobby does not get much exposure so why not make the most of it, Idiots like you don’t help anyone.

  25. DITO! Leave them 2 it If you notice her holding remove her after 10 days into another tank (same water) and let her do her stuff. If atfer 25 odd days she hasnt spat them just strip her and put her back in the main tank and feed her HEAPS
