Last night I had 3 fish go into the inlet chamber, now I have the fun job of fishing them out.They are small so can work out how/why they went in, but am not sure how to prevent it again. anybody had this before and how did you fix it?

Nope most of my fish I have got in from up your way. I got both these dems and tropheops when I was in Auckland 18 months ago, regretably sold them to a mate, now he has sold them back to me.

So i added a group of tropheops to this tank yesterday and it loooks super cool with the extra colour, I also got another goup of dems, I want to take some of the new females and add it to this tank, or maybe even the entire colony. does anybody have any ideas on how to do that sucessfuly without having a masacer in the tank?

Well my theory made sense to me, I unplug everything else when its not being used, so in my mind the same should apply to heaters

And it cant take any power if its not pluged in can it ?

Because they both get plugged into a wall socket and use power to run

I assume it works the same was as my stero, if its on stand by my power meater still has a reading, all be it a very small reading but still a reading. thats why I have taken 2 of the 3 light bulbs out of all my fittings. This way only one can take power

Power still draws if its plugged in, just like other electircal stuff. Most of my tanks have 2 heaters in them, I unplug one over summer and plus it back in mid Aprilish

He hates cats for this reason, I was listening to his talk back show a couple years ago and he went on abouthow they should be banned, or kept indoors and chipped etc looks very much like the linked website

Maybe we are talking about the same fish and I got the price wrong, as I have only seen one around town recently and it was ridiculusly over priced

I think that all depends on the fish, I am very opposed too paying $240 for a L142 or $180 for a L081/L018 when they are around 30-40mm, they are nice fish but that seems ridiculs especialy when HFF advertised a L081/L018 for $100 last week. So including shipping it would be cheaper to get a pleco sent down this way instead of driving into town and buying one. I love the fact that finaly we are getting some fancy plecos in town, but I think because they know there is only 4 shops and 3 others dont/wont stock them they have marcket monopoly and will charge what they like. As for plecs to breed If I buy a group for around the $200ish mark and I do get them to breed to start with I would be looking at swaping the off spring with others that have plecos that I dont currently own, then depending on the fish around the $30-40mark is fair. If breeding for a bussiness then charging more to cover cost's is fine, but if your only breeding for a hobbie, then just making some extra coin to buy more fish works for me.

If you want some good slow relax time golden bay/takaka/collingwood area would be the way to go, its very peaceful over that way. I am sure Diablous will put in some good ideas for walks and the such
