However I am going to go to a big scale as big is good and better in my mind so I will reserve full judgement until I have tryed a bigget ank

I didnt know that caused BBA, in that case how come my flatmates tank has a few tuffs of it popping up, he has never used co2 in his tank at all? So on the consistent co2 theory, once the bottle is filled and running again, should that mean the BBA is elimintated? The more I look the less BBA I am finding, so I think its a diffrent algae that I have. P.S Planted tanks are way to much effort, how do you planted guys keep up with all this.

I often smell my water, but there is no way for the life of me that I amdrinking my tank water. I know what my fish do in that water!

It maybe the Panaque family, as mine disapered when I got a couple of Panaques in my main tank.

Interesting, I wounder how mine disaperd. I had a bit then added some difrent plecos ( not for BBA reasons) and then before I realised I had no more BBA. I just asumed that one of them took care of it. Hence my earlier comment of getting a fish to deal with it

I would like to argue this a bit. The tank I have beside this has zero algae in it, runs no c02, same light times if not longer.I think it has less flow in the tank and gets the same amount of fert as this one ( more over the last 2 weeks as I have stoped doesing this tank now). Only major diffrence is the substract mix and it has fish in it. The plants are similar as well. Neither seem to be going crazy as far as growing goes but the one in this thread is growing a bit more noticably than the other. Any thoughts?

Tank is to small to use a hose, will try the plate next W/C/ thanks With excel just being a co2 suppliment, will pumping a heap of c02 into the tank do the same thing?

Will be doing that in a couple weeks, Gunna buy a diffuser and drop checker this week fingers crossed and then sort out the bottle the week after Its BBA I think, and a bit of that green stuff you can see on the filter in one of the pics. How do you propose removing it from the plants? snip snip?? problem with doing a big w/c is that I havnt yet done one that doesnt throw substract everywere, reclogging filtration what I suspect as throwing nutrents everywhere. last time I tryed a syphon and good golly gosh was my bucket filled with muck junk from the sub

This algae is doing my head in now. Should I A) do a black out? B) pull it apart and start again or C) be paitent? C02 ran out the other day so I dont have that going in until maybe next week and I decided to stop all liquid ferts as I think there is enough nutirents in the water from the sub leeching out.

Yeah he was going to one of them. So I asumed to start with that he was spending less time on this and more time studying ( Like I should be) But I would of thought that he would of still been about over the last couple of weeks, unless student life is so tough on him that the interwebs has gone bye bye
