  2. this is what im planning on doing (or having the capability of doing) when i get a new skimmer usually though dont quarantine
  3. 30 is really a maximum but dont want it constantly at this. chillers aint cheap and depends on rating and make. typically around $700 - $1000 2nd hand, double that new. pm dogmatix i think he was selling one.
  4. i followed that tank on RC during it's design stages. I wondered when it would get TOTM
  5. thats what i was thinking. ich is bad but never heard it bad enough to wipe out an entire tank that quick.
  6. agree, however you're less likely to stay in the hobby because of the frustrations you will have - and most likely due to a cheap skimmer (but of course you wouldnt know that unless you had a decent skimmer that did the job in the first place!) at the least pick something in the middle!
  7. looks great, get the carbon in their asap to start cleansing ya water
  8. that's an understatement!!! its a FANTASTIC little program - and whats more its freeware. Been using it for years! http://www.irfanview.com

  10. no one pays retail, get them from mico or chesters and tell them you want trade price. melev's site is an awesome link for getting ideas, highly recommend it!
  11. that is the smartest thing I've read on this site thus far. very true, however a bit of filter wool every now and then wont hurt and can help physically strip out detritus. used long term is not recommended.

  14. Hahaaa, "all your base are belong to us" - for those unknown to Internet jargon... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_your_base_are_belong_to_us
  15. colour is heading back down to the base of the coral, not just colouration in new growth areas. must get some pics up!!! not massive colouration yet, but at least I can see it progressing... pics this weekend...
  16. from my own experience with zeovit so far, I would suggest the same. only now are 80% of my corals starting to show colouration (the other 20% i expect are just brown acro's) only at the tips to start but colour is slowly down to the base - definate signs finally! i dont put this purely down to zeovit though, i think the new lights (or more specifically lights much closer to the waters surface) has made a huge improvement (cheers for the tip pies ). i still havent add the 4 x T5's to my tank yet but when i do i would expect to see faster colouration still.
  17. oh i can still feel the love. are you sure your new one's not al's steve?

  21. wasp i really need to come over and test my water on your colorimeter. irrelevant of orthophosphates being tested or not, at least its going to give me some indication of my nutrients. will try and make it this weekend if you're around?
  22. you'll have to change your onscreen name to just "steve" now
