Hi there, when a fin is nipped it leaves it susceptible to getting fin rot. You may want to buy a cheap quarantine tank and use wunder white spot cure which has malachite green in it so will stain your silicone.

Do customs not care about us bringing living organisms into the country, without a quarantine facility?

Thanks guys, I will definitely not quit until its sorted. I really don't want to come home to a flooded house.. also with mould growing in the silicone, it has made my tank worthless..

So they've gotten back to me. They said aqua one say "it's probably just algae, and you need to do more water changes and reduce lighting to 10 hours" So I change about 20% per fortnight and my lights are on for 10hours. Funny because the stuff is growing behind the filter in the silicone where there is no light.... She said if I send some pics in they can look into it further

"The silicone sealant will rot if the algae and mold growth is left untreated" So even if you use black silicone, you may still end up with a flooded living room. I have another aqua one that I have had for 5 years and there is nothing on the silicone. Only stained green from malachite green. I have called the store, they are looking into this, and will get back to me.

How did you upgrade the lights Zuri? A whole new light hood? It's got 2x 30w and 1x 25w, the 25w is a special size and you can't just go to mitre 10 and get a replacement, you have to buy it from pet store which is expensive. I would love to have like 4x 30w..

Well I bought the tank in January. If it is a manufacturing problem should I try take it back? It has a 2yr warranty... My other aqua one tank is 4 years old and the silicone has never done that

Nope. Only brown diatoms and a small amount of green spot algae.
