  1. Make sure you clean her bedding up too. Throw some Penny royal in with her bedding if you can find some. (ts a pretty common weed with purple flowers in paddocks) Also a clove of garlic in her meals wouldnt go astray either.
  2. I looked in to doing my own when i got my 6 foot tank. In the end i got a tank builder to build it for me as it worked out cheaper. I could not get the glass for the price they built the tank for. Admittedly they did use recycled on the bottom and one end that was against the wall. For bracing i have 120-180mm cross members at each end and the middle on which the lids are mounted inside of. Plus a 50mm brace down the sides.
  3. put a stocking over the outlet/s
  4. I would have thought you would be able to find them now. I have seen them around in Jan and Feb. Have you tried the Nosh super markets? I havnt seen them for ages admittedly. Maybe there isnt enough demand for the big supermarkets anymore to stock them.
  5. Sound like hes been beaten up and is on his last legs :-? Someone might have a "wonder tonic" but i would think its all over for the little falla.
  6. I think so. Ideally you need that "stilll" air gap so using 2 layers of 25 will give your that. THe walls will be ok as any condensation between the two shoud escape down in the profile. Not sure about the roof. Either a flashing from the poly that would direct the water away off the poly or maybe remove the roof and install a roofing paper or foil that takes the condensation out over the back wall.
  7. 25mm poly probably will be too thin but it will help keep the drafts out. As an idea 60mm poly gives you roughly just over half the insulation of batts if you can create an air gap behind it. Maybe you caould stick 25mm poly directly to the shed and then a batten (timber or poly) and then another layer of 25mm poly. Depending on what your requirment for a finished surface are. Poly wont really stand up to being scrubed or washed down. So you might then need a finishing liner of this. The walls will sweat so you wont be able to put batts straight against the wall. The roof will definitely condensate particularly in winter and frosty mornings. So if you line the ceiling you will have to make sure the water has some where to run off to.
  8. You could batt your walls and then wrap walls with foil to hold it all in? Other options to line your walls could just be Hardboard, or particle board then all you have to do it is paint it. 25mm poly wouldnt do much as far as insulation goes. The Knauf earthwool insulation doesnt seem to have the itchy fibres like the others but like you say i still think you would have to cover it. Other polyester options are more expensive and a pain in the ass to fit. Try ringing Earthwool direct or Premier Insulation and see if they will supply some direct if you want to go the bat way. It will be way cheaper than the shops if they will do it for you.
  9. Just chucking an option out there for a full length sheet if he wanted to go that way. Didnt say use it or else. A flooring sheet will handle the moisture far better than a standard particle board sheets or packing sheets due to the resins they use, as they can handle being in the weather for a couple of months. Have you ever seen floors done in the 70s and 80s done out of standard particle board?
  10. Can you use 20mm partilcle board? Use a flooring sheet. It'll handle the moisture and comes in 3.6m long. About $100 a sheet.
  11. ive just come from ITM wairau park the cheapest i could get them too was $25 a sheet what ITM have you been too so i can try there?[/quo $11 odd is for a 25mm sheet. 50mm is around your $25 mark. How exactly do you want to insulate the walls with poly. Would Batts work? You are only going to get R1.4 with poly but twice that with batts.
  12. Its it just using thin walled pipe? Can you just use the push a push on hose tail if it is? AS far as the bits and pieces of pipe id go and see a plumber. They will probably have all those bits in a bin if your lucky.
  13. Was just talking about the "leaving it laying around" until you needed it business. Some of those air rifles will kill a kid as easily as any other fire arm. Air rifle still a good option for the unlicensed though if the rabbits are in reasonable range (20-30m for an amateur with a cheap rifle/ scope combo. Snares/ traps can be a bit dodgy but check this thread out if you have time. http://www.fishnhunt.co.nz/forum/YaBB.cgi?num=1326361890/13#13
  14. You got your license Ira? That maybe be tongue in cheek but its a crap bit of advice. Air guns are included in the arms code as a fire arm so follow the seven rules.
  15. You could use a circular saw. Table saw would be best but skilly will do. More than likely you just have multi purpose blade so pull the blade right back in so it is only just penetrating through the perspex. This has the effect of changing the tooth angle and will mean the blade is more shaving through (like a ripping blade would) rather than a chipping through and wrecking your sheet. The use of guides will stop sideways movement which could also chip your sheet as well. The other option you may have depending on what tools you have would be to use an angle grinder with a segmented diamond blade. Depending on the thickness of the sheet you could possibly run the risk of melting the perspex a little though.
  16. glass silicone is not ideal as an adhesive on the rocks in a structural sense but im sure it will do the job in this case. The concrete stone stuff is around 50-55kg/m2 as a reference. between 30-60mm thick. Actual rock is heavier usually.
  17. There is the Natural schist which i cant see any problem using but it is expensive. A lot of the stuff you might see around IE Elderado stone and the like is man made. Its basically made from concrete and oxides for colour. Glue used for Schist is basically mortar. For the man made stuff it is a mortar with some extra bonding additives. Im not sure on the safety aspects of using it in your tank with your fish but we do drink out of concrete tanks ourselves. I would imagine the lime would make your water pretty hard though.
  18. Smidey is on to it. A good massage is the way to go for muscular pain. Could use some arnica cream or deepheat to help relieve stiffness as well. Gets the blood flowing and something you can do with out going to physio for ultrasound etc.

  20. Where are you from pippin? I have about 40-50 litres of stones here that i want to get rid of.
  21. i originally had my mind set on the coral rocks. In the end settled for Limestone. A few fert bags full free from the quarry.
  22. Shells, crushed coral, or limestone help raise the Kh. My tank is full of limestone and i also top with a salt mixture but that is for Africans. How did you test your KH and Gh. Is that 40 drops for gh? or on a strip?
  23. Any colour will stand out more than if you had a lighter stand. So black will make any colour stand out. If you want to make your colours stand out more add lighting to match you fish colours.
  24. poke the garden hose up the intake hose until water starts coming out the outlet.
