that might be beyond my skill set at present
I had the first wind turbine in Karori about 13 years ago. I was threatened with a $30k fine if I left it running .... noise in peak wind was about 100 db! :slfg: Inverter is now in the shed. Gel batteries have gone flat due to non use
My limited experience is that a few months ago I moved my surviving WCMM from the gold fish tank into a tropical 25 Deg C tank. Today I had a look and I see a single 1 cm fry with the three adults
I've got a battery powered air pump but it's 3V, and I can't find a 3V panel. Stepping a 12V panel down would just be reducing the efficiency by 75%.
If it's not designed to be run 24/7, then no more to be said. I would have hooked this up in parallel with a car battery. I take it you meant a solar regulator to prevent the battery from being over charged?
Maybe I can use this one http://www.jaycar.co.nz/productView.asp?ID=ZM9200 to run a small fountain instead?

Any reason why this wouldn't work with a solar panel ( 12V )? Amperage is not stated ...
Just thinking of summer coming soon, and some way of aerating my bath tub with fish. I tried a RCD with a mains powered air pump but the RCD no longer works
I saw this segment on TV where people were sticking bubble wrap over their windows as temporary double glazing over the winter. Anyone tried this with their tanks? ( Another $400+ power bill arrived today and spouse is blaming me )
I'm flying to Auckland on Monday, but will be spending a couple of days in Napier before flying back again to Wgton. I guess you'll need a heat pack. Do catfish fly?
This is an interesting assertion. I was under the impression that the microbes scale to the amount of "food" available. So, even if you had huge capacity, it just won't be fully colonized as there isn't the energy source available.
Doctors are not required to see patients before prescribing.
I attended a small telemedicine discussion in Sydney over the weekend on how they wanted to provide services for poorly serviced areas. I presume that this will happen in NZ as well.
Metronidazole is a commonly used antibiotic, mainly for women's issues though. But also dental infections ( anaerobic ), Crohn's disease, diverticulitis etc etc.
The main problem is that you can't drink alcohol with it, it then acts like antabuse.
The question was what should be in a first aid kit ... so something to tide you over until you can get to a LFS the next day or so. If your fish have different and specific requirements, you'll need a fish specific first aid kit
Not sure what you can do about a power failure on a cold winter's day/night ... how would one try to keep the temperature up? Boil tank water on a wood stove? Wrap blankets around the tank?
