    If we had as easy access to drugs as they do in the USA, our EDs would also be crawling with drug overdoses. If society had no obligation to pick up the pieces after the event, then perhaps people should be allowed to do what they want to themselves. But until that day, access to these things needs to be restricted.

    What's curious to me is that there appear to be huge numbers of people who either use or have used the stuff as a recreational drug, yet no political party apart from the Legalize cannabis one are willing to take this on.

    Usually if you want to change the look but preserve functionality, then it means in a well designed system, of editing some templates. And you may have to edit the CSS ( cascading style sheets ) as well.

    They do seem to take forever to grow below the 1cm size but as you say they seem to accelerate after that. I didn't end up separating the fry from the adults and they've all survived. I fed them liquifry but am not sure if they ate it ... or what they eat!

    Your fish seem to have got worse and worse over the last couple of days despite the water changes. You mentioned before that you were on bore water but now you're on mains supply? Assuming that the water you're doing the PWCs is okay, then it seems likely to me that the listlessness you're seeing is due to nitrite toxicity. The emergency treatment of this is temporary chloride ( easiest as a pinch of salt per 40 litres ), or methylene blue in a hospital tank.

    Would you remove fertilizer from plant roots? If your tank is lightly planted I believe it's okay to vacuum well away from the roots.

Marijuana is interesting since it seems to get a large number of people into hydroponics. I wonder if they would also get into aquaponics if they realised that they could also smoke fish?

    The more water changes you do the less likely you are to upset them as the tank water more closely approximates the source water. Flourish is a reducing agent so lowers oxygen levels but Gouramis have a labyrinth organ so can get oxygen from air. So, sounds more like ammonia/nitrite etc toxicity that they're recovering from. I would have been tempted to add some chloride to counter the methaemoglobinaemia.

    If Tiwai is part of Southland, then the whole of Southland consumes more than 15% of NZ electricity production. But the region is only producing 5% of GDP. Perhaps if Tiwai didn't get such cheap power, cheaper power could be used by Auckland to boost productivity, and the increased profits could then fund the upgrades to roading in Southland. (j/k)

    Hehe. I sat in the back row at the Saturday matinees ( pre-TV era ), and so no one could complain if I didn't stand for the anthem!

    I hold a different view. To me, anthems, uniforms, patches, bibles etc are all poor substitutes for individual thinking. They have their roots in pre-scientific communities as forms of mind control. Without them, no one would be chucking unwanted pets on the rubbish heap, and we'd have world peace PS: You're not in primary school now!
