I will try get a photo in the morning when all the clowns are out, the rest of the day it looks empty, i'm crap with a camera just to worn ya :slfg: as for filtering i got the turn over wrong i think this is what its running http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=412824194 also got the pump from same people which is very gruntee http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=324396775 x2 of the second one i do 1 water change a week about 40% and clean 1 filter out maybe every second week which rotates through the 3 (only cleaning with tank water) i am wanting to upgrade the tank might make me get into it and start building

  3. Can i keep arowana or datnodes with my discus, fire eel, ghost knife, loaches? i have about 30 loaches smallest about 4cm, 3 discus smallest about 6cm the eel is 10cm and the knife is 14cm ish it will be bending to the loaches conditions. They are in a 6x2x2 tank at 29ish degrees with soft water ph is around 6.5 and current is quite strong at one end and planted and carm at the other end i run a big power head and 3 filters 2 sun sun and one pond filter water turn over is about 10 times an hour i haven't done much research yet but i'm sure you people can point me in the right direction any advice would be great thanks
  4. thats a good outcome thanks for being so understanding you will see the $30 tomorow
  5. hi guys and girls we are discussing payment at the moment chris (the seller) said he paid $60 freight. we came to an agreement of $180 including shipping. i have paid $90 and was going to pay the other $90 when they arrived as you know 3 died, chris doesn't expect me to pay the other $90 but would like me to pay $40 for the extra freight do you think i should pay the freight? i said i would pay $20 then i thought id met half way and pay $30 later on how much do you think i should pay what you guys say is what we both agreed on will be paid, anything from 0-60 we are on good speaking terms so this wont get messy
  6. What do you want me to say to make you feel better about doing the wrong thing i have tried being nice but you keep going on and on, is this really about what i said or are you just trying to justify yourself? I don't think you are capable of comprehending that these fish have evolved over thousands of years to live in a soft acidic water conditon and you saying they came in a bag with a ph of 7.8 dosn't really cut it. It's not just the ph thats the problem! "did you want me to get them and put them into a ph of 6.4 and shock them and take them out of conditions they are use to?" Well no you would have to acclimatise them to that...Have you heard of that? But yes that would have been a much better idea finally somethings getting through :nilly: Sure they will live in your tank just like you would with enough air and food to keep u alive and no way to escape wouldn't be ideal tho A?????? Loaches online is a ONLINE forum for the world... The link in the link was the point!
  7. well i'm not going to say anymore b4 someone loses an eye haha. if you want to keep your clown with your cichlids thats fine by me please keep us informed on growths rates sickness etc if you can be bothered here are the "lol" post http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22968 its the only one i could find i'm sure there is a few more but i cant find them also found this http://forums.loaches .com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=21053 thought it would help 8)
  8. I don't mean to be nasty, sorry if iv offended you, i am honestly interested to see how they go. I haven't read all the comments above as i don't have time at the moment (will tonight) it is a very interesting topic and is always a good debate, iv seen the same debate a few times on loaches online ill see if i can find them and post some links tonight if it works out ok in your tank i would even plan on doing it myself in the future cichlids are a very cool fish
  9. I personly wouldnt be trying it but i just try give my clowns the best life that i can give them. Im sure your clowns will tolerate the different conditons.... well they dont really have a choice :-? It will be interesting to see how they SURVIVE, whether they will be more susceptible to illness, see if they will grow to full size and live a long full life just a shame for those poor fish having to be the experiment "gill" yea my clowns go crazy for anything different i think they just like a change
  10. a mixture of bloodworms, prawns (there 2 favourites) flake, sinking pelets, hikari sinking carnivore, cucumber, zuccini, watermelon, carrott, strawberryies, peas, mushrooms varitey is best
  11. hhhhmmmmmmmmm just feed fish some peas and the eel was scoffing into them
  12. cool there are only 6 neons left anyway so no big deal if they all disappear (more worried about the clowns). i have been feeding raw prawns to all the fish aswell as sinking pellets flake foods and bloodworms so he should be fine on something there
  13. I have just been to chch today and brought a new fish from organism its a baby fire eel. What a cool fish it is too isnt bothered by me in the tank at all infact it was trying to nibble on my nails when i was vacuming. How long do my neons have till they become dinner? The eel is about 10cm and neons are fully grown. I also have small clown loaches at about 1.5-2inch, will they be big enough by the time the eel is fully grown to not get eaten too?
  14. thats so sad i'm sorry to here that. she must of had a great life to live so long you have been a great career

  18. +1 I keep mine at 29ish give or take a couple of degrees and they are healthy as, I would lower the water level so the filter return is splashing at the top of the water. I have heard of clowns' living to 50+ years on loaches online maybe she is lonely there schooling fish... im sure you know that though awsum fish though very well done :nfs:
  19. awsum tank did you grow the clowns yourself from babys or buy them like that? 75 clowns in a 1200l still looks roomy you should get more haha very cool
