  1. Hi i have just brought some mts (20) and ramshorn(50) snails for my clown loach tank and was wondering if anyone has mts in there tanks with clowns? I was hoping the mts will have time to build a population while the ramshorns were getting eaten. Im not to worried if they all get eaten (as thats what they are all brought for) but i was hoping the mts would still survive and the clowns would pick the odd one off to keep them happy and keep the snail population in check any advice would be great cheers chris

  6. Im heading to wellington next week and was wondering if you guys could tell me where all the best pet shops are? (names and address's). i don't have a clue how to get around so will be using gps, so if you could put them in order from one side of town to the other would be really great. ps i'm after clown loaches anyone no of any big ones for sale?
  7. all the discus are about 8cm round ish, he died lastnyt clown loaches or pleco must of eaten it :tears: maybe it was sick it seemed very skitish any noises the filters made it fliped out. Over than that it looked and swam fine and was still eatting
  8. one of the discus got sucked onto the side of the filter lastnight &c:ry got a few scratches, hopefully should come right i haven't treated the tank with anything just keeping the water quality's perfect hoping he will sort himself out. i have turned off the power head so he can swim anywhere in the tank now (away from the filter) without getting tossed around i will be moveing them 2 another tank shortly
  9. I thought nitrates was bad i dono what he said something spiked anyway nitrite or nitrate (im not an expert). I would treat them all to a wormer that is all for now as the one with the white infection around its barbals and white eye died i think he seems to have it under control for now ...till the next outbreak atlest
  10. went to the shop today 1 clown down 3 looking ok 1 still skinny. He has treated the tank with an antibiotic as one of the discus got an injury (at lest he is looking after them). there tank had a nitrate spike after treating so he is doing lots of water changes witch is good for the clowns still no sale tho. I said to him "you knows were i work when you wants to sell them" and said i paid $75 for some recently hope that works

  16. I have been to my local pet shop and they have a display tank with very sick looking clown loaches (1 about 15cm maybe 4 10cm) I have tried and tried to tell the owner they are sick but he tells me that's just how they are,i have 25 very healthy clowns and that's defiantly not how they are!! The biggest sits in the corner facing up into the filter current all day and is very skinny (i told him it needs to be wormed and he laugh at me). There is 1 other floating around the top, on its side at times with a white lump on its eye and barbals i have asked him to sell them to me and ill treat them but no success what can i do without getting the shop in trouble?
  17. I had two oranda goldfish in my tropical tank over winter at 28 degrees. They were way more active (more eating more pooping though) and i had trouble putting them back out in the pond, took ages to acclimatise them (2 weeks) and even now they aren't very happy just be prepared to do more water changes as they are very messy fish
  18. What is the no3 and no2? and do an ammonia test if you can. If it was mine id be cleaning the filter out but use tank water to clean not tap water. i had the same problem about a year ago and after cleaning filters it came right i'm no expert but that's were i would start
  19. got the filter and pump today didnt come with all the hoses etc  i used the hoses etc off the origanal filter got it all working sweat, very very grunty!! might put some hose clamps on all the hoses so they dont pop off. loaches seem scard of it at the moment but they will come round im sure
