Botia histrionica it is i brought it as a yoyo but its different to the other 2 which look like yoyos. Is Botia histrionica a chain loach? I don't follow all the names i saw a pic sum were and that was the name they had with it. ill try get a better pic tomorow thanks for the help tho

I'm busy most nights so only get Monday and Friday nights to do changes.

Around 600l is what i change tank is 1200L. I might drain it and slowly fill it over a few hours and keep an eye on the temp

Hi team i have just removed my kitchen as we are doing renovations, I was using kitchen sink/tap to do water changes and now i only have cold tap to do them. Do you think filling the tank with cold water will be ok? I usually do 50% water change once a week Thanks Chris

Iv been thinking of this aswell for a long time now have a look on monster fish keepers they seem to always use epoxy stuff but i was going to try Firestone pond liner i never got past the idea of how to seal glass to ruber. I got to the point were i have cut the 6 foot tank up ready to use glass but that was the easy bit so havnt got any further haha Make sure u take loads of pics and keep us updated. :thup:

I vote more clown loaches I'm running 45 in my 1200L they look amazing when there all out and about schooling i also have nine silver dollars which also show good schooling behavior. I rekn increase your numbers of what you got, your fish will thank you for it.

Iv got a 2450x700x700 in 10mm glass been running for 2 or 3 years it doesn't rate very well on the safety calculator but hasn't broken yet touch wood. I brought it from a guy in wellington if i was to build it myself i would have used 12mm glass just for piece of mind. I built my stand out of 50mm box section and is very solid. if you brace the tank well and make the stand very tough and level it is do able.

Does anyone no were to get k1 media from?

I have discus loaches and barbs so not going to bother filtering it then just straight tap water. David I'm going to run drain in sump and drip system.

I don't want to have 2 add anything I was hoping for a filter cartridge that i can change say once every 6 month sort of thing

Only thing you probably need to add is something to neutralize chlorine, otherwise straight from the tap will be good. Do you no off any filter systems like the one on trade me that would only remove Chlorine? Thanks heaps

Hello all I am working on building a sump for my 1200L, I have a 200L tank running 2 filter socks and am going to try k1 moving media if I can find some. I am going to run an auto water change drip system with overflow to drain which I was wanting to use this http://www.trademe.co.nz/pets-animals/f ... 340152.htm to clean the water coming in. Has anyone used them? do I need to add anything to the water to keep fish Health? I have read using ro can make ph unstable is this correct? Thanks chris
