  1. yeah thats what i mean, is the formed elbow piping the same as the 1200. Hopefully if it is the intake pipe i can run out the top of the holes and attach the hosing, likewise with the spray bar. The 1200's have the elbows that hang over the back of the tank. So the hose doesnt need to go through the holes. I just need to make sure the formed pipe that makes up the intake and spraybar is less than 25mm o.d.
  2. cool thanks fi5hguy much appreciated are the intakes and outlet the same as the cf1200 or are they completely diff, can't seem to find much info on them or pics of the piping
  3. Was thinking about getting 1 of these, anyone out there using 1 or familiar with them. I hace 2x25mm holes drilled in each end brace of my tank and I'm wondering if the tubing or intake and outlet are gonna fit through the holes?
  4. wow they are nice calvus, good size to, where did you get them and how long did it take to get them that size. Do you have them in a breeding group or just a pair?
  5. oooops, my bad, but you get what i mean
  6. yeah, aulonocara refers to peacock and the 2nd name is their genus or variant. OB's and Dragonbloods are manmade hybrids so tend to be a little more aggro. Each genus has their own characteristic body shape, sometimes only slightly diff
  7. Good idea leaving the haps out, its not that they are to boisterous for the fish its more the tank is to small for them add them once you have the bigger tank, if anything a group of trophs in with haps and peacocks may be your prob. Trophs are super hyper and may be to much for your malawis. But, it may work fine, you will just have to keep an eye on them. You may want to look at mbuna instead of haps/peacocks. Mbuna have a similar temperament as trophs and may fair better. Realistacally if you want peacocks, you could pretty much go with 4 of anything. I have had a few different types in my all male tank over the years and i have found that the described temperament of a fish you can take with a grain of salt, you really won't know how they will behave until they begin to mature. It is best to try and avoid lookalikes i.e. same colour/bodyshape and go with 1 of each type i.e. 1 maleri 1 jacobfribergi, 1 OB etc...
  8. I agree with nav, forget the kadango and taiwan till you get the bigger tank, they get big and boisterous, kadangos especially grow really fast as well. I would get 6 more trophs as from what i have read they are best in large groups. With the 6 brown haps and 12 trophs you'd be pretty well stocked in a 4ft tank. Most of the jacob varieties of peacocks are the more aggressive as well as the OB's. As for substrate aragonite( marble chip) or silica or plain sand from bunnings would be my suggesstions. What size tank would you be looking to upgrade to?
  9. Agree with smidey, whats the dimensions of your tank, will be easier to give suggestions if we know what size the tank is
  10. aulonocara ethelwynnae, not neon green, more olive green, but hey its green, cool colours! and they are endemic to the lake.
  11. Hard to say, i would guess though that with so many males in that tank with only a few females would prob cause alot of aggression as well as increase your chances of crossbreeding. I'm a bit confused are all the fish listed staying in the 1 tank? You said a tang/hap tank but you have a peacock and said that you may add more as well as brown haps? Also i would leave the giraffe male with a few more females as they can be pretty aggro when spawning and 1 lone female would cop a hard time and how big are the fronts? there will be alot of very big fish in this tank!
  12. They are cool, pretty aggro though, i had one in my all male tank, was pretty keen to pick a fight with everyone
  13. At 3 to 4 inches i would have thought the male brown would have coloured up by now, if you have any males?
  14. Ob's and dragonbloods are man made strains and tend to be more aggressive, any of the jacobfrybergi strains are pretty stroppy to. As far as which male will kill the other is anyones guess. Every fish has their own personality. They me be perfectly happy together, you won't really know how they will react to each other till their in the tank together.

    BBA and Flourish

After doin a large wc on mon i have noticed that the bba is slowly disappearing still. I have a few bits here and there but no where near as bad as before. Its not going red and dying off just disappearing

    BBA and Flourish

no i actually cranked the airstone up, my azureus was lying on the bottom of the tank gasping for breath 5 mins after i dosed, i think the double dose soaked up the oxygen in the water. I left the filters off for 15-20mins i guess.

    BBA and Flourish

I thought it was def bba, but after tryin flourish with little success its back to the drawing board
  18. yep only the males have colour, trophs red fins look stunning!
  19. I would say that there is a chance any fish will crossbreed.

    BBA and Flourish

I just double dosed my tank with flourish but had very little success with it. It got rid of a little bit of what i think is bba in my tank , but def didnt work the way i hoped. I syringed it onto as much as i could and put the rest in the water column. Left it for 7 days but it never turned red and died off. I think i will have to live with it as flourish seemrd to be the most successful treatment i could find.
  21. If you have a breeding group of brown haps with multiple fryeri males you may get crossbreeding, fryeri are pretty notorious for crossbreeding epecially if you have a tank full of males. If you could get 3 or 4 fryeri males to live together peacefully it would look cool though, i have read that they tend to stay well coloured even if they are the subdominant fish
  22. the brown haps are from lake victoria, a rift lake but not the same lake as the fryeri, yellows aurora etc which are from malawi. Also the browns can be pretty aggressive and nippy. I don't think you will have a lot of success keeping a bunch of male fryeri together. It is usually recommended to keep single males only.
  23. sorry not best pic, def less of it today but still on pretty much all the rocks. I wouldn't mind if it stayed on the rocks but its growin on heaters, intakes, outlets and pretty much everything
  24. it looks like the stuff angus had in the bba topic i had goin in the freshwater section. It has taken over all the rockwork now smidez. Pullin all the rocks out to scrub them clean would work for a coupla days but it just comes back. I was hopin the flourish would nuke it. What do you reckon it is smidez if not bba? looks like the bba i have seen in threads on other sites
  25. i'm really hoping this works, don't have the tanks to remove all my stock into to treat the main tank. Most people who use flourish said the bba turned red then died off. Looks like a few tufts have disappeared. Its not turning red though. I will give it till mon which is when i am due a wc.
