  1. Wow nice! It reminds me I have got to get my mates turtle out of it's 3 ft tank! It's very shy? It also only walks on the bottom but it has enough room to swim? Is there something wrong?
  2. Hey!! :happy1: I have finally saved enough money to buy an iPad 2(while selling a pocket bike and using all the cash in the bank). I currently have an iPhone 4 and iPod touch 3g and a 24" iMac. I'm a huge apple fan! I've looked at some of the reviews on Youtube and it seems really nice. I would love to hear from anybody that has an iPad(either version) and tell me what you think of it. When first saw the iPad it seemed like an oversized iPod touch IMO but now it's pretty neat can play movies games music(bit unrealistic though?). Also if anyone has one do they own the games like iMovie garage band photobooth ect? And are they sweet? I like the idea of the smart cover. But what I really don't get is why they didn't design a case with a back on it? Can you use a case with the iPad 2 with a smartcover? Or would it be better to get a screen protector for the back? Thanks people!
  3. Haha churr! I've passed ncea with merit so far my mate same year as me(yr11 or 5th form for the oldies) he's already passed ncea lvl 1 with excellence lvl 2&3 nearly with excellence... He's way to brainy for me
  4. Haha I love hOw they eat worms! Do yOu just get them from a garden and wash or do you buy them?
  5. If it's like regular sand then it's fine.
  6. Yeah I agree with you but most turtles you see on TM ect are in 100L tanks have shell issues and the water is filthy. Not saying all turtles are kept like this but some of them sure are. A lot of people buy turtles for children and don't pay a lot of attention to them, after a while they get bored with them and don't care for them properly; not doing frequent water changes turning of light scrubbing some algae. But yes RES are easy to care for if you have some common sense and do some research on them before hand. Yeah my mums mate has a turtle, good condition ect. He went to go and get a new substrate for his turtle and the sales person had sold him small stones, small enough for the turtle to eat. I have informed him to remove the rocks as it leads to impaction then thing don't get easier for the turtle. I might go out and buy some sand for him in the weekend and rinse it for him.
  7. Yes but most sellers do need to say these are difficult creatures to take care of and need certain requirements. Because most people just walk in and buy a turtle. Sellers should be able to provide CORRECT information about them.
  8. Or you could go for a turtle? My red eared slider never has bit me. I think the trick is to handle it alot when it is little. I think the reeves turtle stays small but a little research will help. I'd love to own heaps of tanks but I can't. Good luck with your reptile keeping.
  9. Haha I wouldn't think bout it. A scute may come off once he's been walking around dried off and he's shedding. Your doing a great job keep it up
  10. Wow nice job. Very sad to see turtles In this state. Can I ask how you removed the unsheded scutes? I thought removin them would result in more shell problems? Good luck and I hope your turtles are ok after yesterday's earthquake :0)
  11. Also re earthquake risk- I can't remember exact figure but there was a 70% chance of a 6-7 eq in the next year and then decreases the next year And a 90% chance of a 5-6 eq in the next year and the the next year it decreases Have a look on stuff.co.nz
  12. Hi I got a few MTS from simian(thanks by the way!) and have a few questions 1. Will they reproduce in cooler temperatures? I've had them in my tank before and they've all disapered so I thought I'd chuck some in the tanks and breed the rest. 2. Will adding sea shells benefit them? I hear the calcium helps them keep hard shells. 3. Any advice on breeding is needed. I know the basic formula snails+warm water+ food=explosion Thanks
  13. Ive seen eels at 6cm at the local river and a pond at the golf course. I had one from the river bout 5 cm in a 20L tank. I reckon theyd like stone/gravel or sand substrate. cold water. Lots of hiding spaces. And id say feed it bugs found in a pond or a river. +1 on the lid. Mine crawled out luckily i heard it fall out. Good luck

    Ellen M&M or eminem?
  15. Hi I'm no fan of halogens either. I pretty sure you can buy lamps on tm especially for heating reptiles search something like reptile heat As for a basking platform. I have siliconed a piece of glass onto the corner of my tank. I am regretting it now because I want to remodell my tanks and it's a pain to take it off... Maybe you wouldn't have to use a tan colored one. Take the design o the tan colored one ie having suction cups to hold it on and use a peice of Perspex instead of the fake rock. Idk just an idea. Good luck
  16. !drool: I love bauribobs tank but with just one turtle and full of fish and plants! Do we have moss balls in NZ? Feel free to have a look. A really nice tank

Slapee I remember that from the pokemon movie! When they make clones of all the pokemon!!! Bike or moped?
  19. Im pretty sure all snails nibble on plants except maybe malaysian trumpet snails. I'm Sure they won't take over your tank if you dont overfeed too much. MTS are no good for puffer food though their shells are too hard. Pretty sure ranshorns will eat very little plants. Good luck
  20. So you have two tanks one for puffers and one for a main tank? If so you could add them into your main tank if there are no loaches predators ect. Or you could set up a small 10L tank with a sponge filter and heater and breed them in there. Puffers are sweet! Good luck
  21. Thanks. Having a cold sucks... Oh wells day off school atleast bit of a pity that they aren't in taupo though. Will just have to go prawn fishing
  22. Hello Today I have a cold and was thinking on what to do when I go up to taupo. So a few qs about catching shrimp 1. Do they go in as far as taupo? I live right next to the river and there are oxygen weed koura and a while bunch of little fish 2. Do they need salty water to breed? I was thinking about breeding them for my turtle to eat. 3. I live at the start of the Waikato river. Next to the lake. It's gets quite deep and runs pretty fast in some spots. Do they thrive in this condition? Or do they prefer slow calmer waters 4. Are they still active during winter? Or will the shrimps metabolism slow down? Thanks
