  1. Thanks for the help! My daughter was so happy when she covered the tank for a couple of days to find it clearer than it's ever been! Thanks so much
  2. Cool thanks. I didn't think it's new spot got any sun..... but I will leave the lights off! I will let u know how it goes! thanks
  3. Hi, we have a 30l aquaone tank and has been setup for a while now. But because it was taking up too much bench space we have moved it (took 50% water out and carried it) now all the tank water has gone green. We have been doing 10l water changes twice a week for the last 2 weeks with no change. now what???
  4. Hey cheers! i suppose the thread was not just about the tanks but the cool people behind them that made them special. There were a whole bunch of great people that support this website / hobby that hide away and don't show their awesome tanks i have met some neat people in previous years and hoping they are still around!
  5. hey, I have been out of tropical for some years now(on the dark side) and now trolling to get back into it with a big tank (6ft +) have my expectations been set too high? Or have all the huge awesome tanks people owned disappeared? is it because the people that have put so much into this hobby given up on it too? As it is not as popular as it once was.... 5 years ago or so? whats everyone's thoughts.... Be good to catch up with some old names
  6. Hi, I am getting back into the tropical hobby with my daughter. She he has a small 28l aqua one tank and wondering if anyone has fish or plants or decorations they don't want or are trying to sell? thanks

hey, just wondering if they are still available? I have had them many years ago and the bigger greens but was wondering if they are as was thinking of settign a tank up at work with them, maybe 5? Just wondering if i am dreaming!
  15. if you want a 4 footer definately spend the money and get one otherwise you will say "i wish i got the 4 footer" when you see the fish you really want and it can't fit in your rsm 130. Hollywoods are great and will help you lots. Modifying the tank you have is possible but will be fiddly and only an inbetween measure. imo After experience... definately get as bigger sump as possible and get it plumbed properly. it will save noise, overflows onto your carpet and hide all equipment. once you have a talk to hollywoods chuck your thoughts on here and i'm sure we can all help!
  16. i think they are a good setup for a starter. The only down fall is the replacement of the parts - fans nearly always go by the 1 year warranty at $70 for genuine ones or $30 for another brand that fits. powerheads are $80 each. Bulbs are $70 each. But all this comes with any setup if it fails. I have had mine for 2 years and loving it. I have hard corals (if you put them near the top), soft corals and i have a firefish, shrimp, and a longnose butterfly. I have replaced the skimmer. a definate if you want to keep more than 2 clowns (or small fish) imo. but this can be done later down the track though Another item people do is an extra powerhead as they do not have enough flow. Lots to think about. I dont know if you have seen but there are 2 other tanks out there that are the same as a rsm. i haven't heard much on them but maybe do some research. I have had a 4 footer and enjoyed that so much but then due to house space i down graded to the rsm. must say i am enjoying the rsm way more. hope all that babble helps

    Frozen in time

one of mine did that when she was egg bowned. always sad to see them go!!
  18. i agree with surphew on the mirror thing, works well. The other thing that may have happened is that the purple should have been introduced after the yellow, due to territory behaviour (from what i have read) Sorry to say you might have to choose what one you prefer and sell the other (some fish dont get on) But definately try the mirror thing first!!
  19. stick to the more well known brands, some are tunze, deltec, reef octopus etc. The only ones that are any good to replace the ones in these kind of tanks are deltec mce300/600 or tunze 9002 (thats what i'm runngin and alot of people in ths usa are too) but i think the tunze maybe too small for the tank your looking at. have you decided to get it or something else? also get one that is over rated for your tank not one just rated to your tank. so if it is rated for 400 litres and fits in the back its good. if its only rated fpr 200L flag it
  20. my 2 cents! I would get the aquareef tank because - it has more volume than the redseamax therefore more room for aquascaping etc. It has lighting that is easier to replace (redsea max light bulbs are 65ea and you have to wait for shops to get them in) Both tanks need their skimmers replaced as they are not upto par. Both tanks will need an extra powerhead as either dont have enough flow. I have had a 4 foot marine setup and now have a redsea max 130 and i am enjoying having the rsm alot more then my big tank! i think these tanks are the best way to get to learn about marine before having to fork out 5k for a big setup. Many people love having small tanks or nanos!! Only things you have to come to grips with - no tangs, no to most angels, no butterflies, no to most big fish(obviously) no clams, no to some of the corlas that need extreme light. If i have the choice i would have got this tank over my RSM. wish i saw it!! Heres a sneak peak at my rsm
  21. there are lots of us floating around that have tried to kick start it so i can always join in. I tried last and we did dwindle numbers once we moved it to palmy but found most of the committed came from here anyway. I know there is still a club account and library but am aware that it will be handed over only once the club has been running for a while and well (which is fair enough). I had a newsletter that i sent out and wrote by myself every month about club meetings/notes about last time etc. We even made a trip over to napier. Tank crawls are nice too, then you get to meet all the family members Bilbo is also in the process of setting up a email system for us to sell/help everyone locally too. (you will see a topic further down the list in this section) Hope this all helps!
  22. hey its called my little note book! i still have a list of the guys that fist attended or meeting a while of so ago. plus i can always add some if i chek with them first - found a few fish crazy nuts through trademe lately.
