  1. That would be a brilliant idea. Another member of this forum uses corner filters to run some pretty well stocked tanks.
  2. I once heated my BN pair to 40 degrees for 2 days . They were all good Not on purpose btw. Really don't like masterpet heaters anymore
  3. So... Dad just dropped off the 25mm thick poly, and the courier turned up with my drill bits :happy2: Got a lot of work ahead of me now
  4. It is to people like Sam and myself
  5. Those ones that I forgot to send you on monday should turn up tomorrow. Its a full culture instead of a starter. Put some small holes in the lid. I'd also suggest that in a weeks time you put them in a bigger container. Add a bit of yeast into the container to get it going.
  6. Good to hear they will be safe at home soon Will they get a refund on the rest of the holiday?
  7. I wont need them soon! :happy2: :nilly: FISH ROOM FISH ROOM FISH ROOM FISH ROOM! You can set up a jar/bottle system? In a heated room you could even do straight bottles?
  8. I personally wouldn't pick platies. Guppies are nice fish IMO and almost always hang around the top of the tank. I bought about 40 off someone, gave about 15 to a friend, gave away another 20, and only a few days ago I pulled about 40 large guppies from my 60-30-30 with moss etc. Not counting the 40+ fry Guppies breed like crazy. Platy do also. So you'll need to do something with the eventual fry, or only have males
  9. Where are you? I'm in auckland, howick to be exact, and I'd swap microworms for daphnia
  10. Tetras are usually egg scatters as far as I know
  11. If it is that guppy virus then you wont want any of those guppies you were going to pick up on saturday. They'll all just end up dying
  12. The thing with platy's, if there is a female, you wont stick to 2-3
  13. Are the guppies imports or NZ bred ones?
  14. I've done that a fair few times. No issues. Whenever I get a filter with media I always add some seeded media from an established filter to help the process. I also run sponge filters on established tanks to get them seeding before I use them in other tanks
  15. Make sure that if you but a "pleco" that its not a redspot or goldspot. They grow bigger then your tank  There are multiple versions of bristle nose. Standard, golden, spotted, starlight, long fin etc. There is still a fair bit of choice. You could also have a small species like panaque maccus, I think hollywood fish farm has them under the name "Pretty peckolita". If anyone disagrees with this please say, as I plan to put these fish in 60-30-30's one day
  16. Shrimp will probably get sucked up the hang on back so you'd need to use a pre-filter sponge. Basically any open cell sponge over the inlet will work, as long as the sponge doesn't have holes big enough for the shrimp to get through(apparently they can get through some sizes from what I read online)
  17. Welcome back =D I breed bettas too
  18. Why do you need silica sand if you already have your gravel?
  19. Filter wool, ceramic rings, glass rings, bio balls. Those are all good
  20. I'd breed them if the price was right. Gives me an excuse to keep them
  21. I assume its to feed to your lizards? I'm not sure how many people would sell you for that purpose. Breeding them cant be too hard. Why not give that a try?
