  1. Oh me too When I read it, I surely looked like this --> Without breathing, like a free-diving through the words This book has deeply impressed me and shaped my imagination.
  2. Ray Charles - Makin' whoppee (live) (the best version ever)
  3. So, fortunately, we have to use letters on internet Dennis, I don't mock you It's just amazing how fastly technology transforms our societies. As for me, I had a watch during one year. Then I threw it away. Never had another one again around my wrist. I like the object, all the briant mecanisms (Phoenix, do you know that french writer "Jules Verne" ?) and all the imaginary linked to it. But I dislike to be linked to time everytime and everywhere.
  4. I rather prefer fishless cycling too
  5. Phoenix, you're ab-so-lu-tly not serious... BettaSplendens, listen to me. Indeed, it's very simple to determine the cause of this behaviour. Does your fighting fish wear some eyelash extensions ? Have you found some lipstick in the tank ? Does he still go by his maiden name ? Did he ever try to wear his sister's fins ? When you bought him, did he wink, especially to a muscular kissing gourami for instance ? Ok, ok. Sorry. Let's get serious. The ultimate test --> Try this : If your betta begins to clap his fins and turns into an indian, a worker or a cowboy... You just put a vid on youtube. Millions views for sure. And add a makeup kit to the mirror suggested by Phoenix (I'm not sure I'm gonna post this) [edit]awww... I'm afraid I did it...
  6. I found him 9 years ago. Tied up to a tree in a forest, adhesive tape around his muzzle (to prevent him to bark...), ill-treated as i could see. He was just 3 or 4 months old. One of my best friends now. Took this picture in january. He's fond of snow
  7. Sharn, your rottie is one of a kind ! What a lovely face Very nice shots ! I love her smile
  8. I was saying the exact same thing to myself by reading the paper. She had even not heard from the dog's owner but she said : "I want to express my deepest apologies for what's happened because it's not his fault. He must be feeling pretty stressed so I just want to say I'm sorry for what happened." It reminds me a similar story with a surfer who was dead after a shark attack. A lot of people wanted to rush at their boats like in Jaws stupid movie, to kill the shark (and a lot of his congeners of course...) to take revenge on, as they say. But the dead surfer's brother went to TV and said not to do such an insane thing because he knew it was entirely his brother's fault and he knew his brother would agree. She made a big mistake. OK. But I just admire people like them, full of courage and so precious introspection abilities. Holly Prebble, my best wishes to you for a speedy recovery. (don't misunderstand me : I do love dogs) Dogs can understand our langage. More than 100 different words for the most talented of them. I'm not talking about circus training or something. Right. But they got their own langage too and we just have to learn it. For instance, when a dog looks at you and yawn, do you know the meaning of it ? It means : I am not your enemy. I'm here in peace. Then, your turn to yawn to tell him : me too, buddy. So the dog will be reassured. Dogs are very attentive to body langage.
  9. Yes. Incredible, isn't it ?... I would have never believe it was so tiny. With such an image, we can better imagine human impact on it. We use to consider oceans and atmosphere as huge endless garbage cans. Big but not so huge... "Left: all the water in the world (1.4087 billion cubic kilometres of it) including sea water, ice, lakes, rivers, ground water, clouds, etc. Right: All the air in the atmosphere (5140 trillion tonnes of it) gathered into a ball at sea-level density. Shown on the same scale as the Earth." More infos here (including calculations cause it's not just a drawing): - http://blog.phiffer.org/post/27344630/left-all-the-water-in-the-world-1-4087-billion
  10. Hi It sounds good ! I like your hardscape ps : where could I find which plants are available in NZ ? Wanna try something. [Edit] that's ok. I found some NZ pet shops on line
  11. Mines too when I read your topic and saw the pics... WOW ! Lucky you !
  12. Another picture really amazing... Could you guess what does represent the pink and the blue spheres ?
  13. Oh you're right Ira. Jpeg compression... I didn't see it last time. Was too late for sure, my eyes didn't work anymore Thanks for posting the original !
  14. There's another pic called "The pale blue dot" that just blows me away... You see that little insignificant blue dot, just like a dust ? Actually, it's a our planet Earth taken in 1990 by Voyager 1 spacecraft from 6.1 billion kilometres. All the oceans, all the seas, all the mountains, the plants, the animals from the smaller to the bigger, all the human kind, all our history and by the way, all our stupid wars are on this pale blue dot surrounded by... by what ? We don't even really know I read more infos about this pic here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pale_Blue_Dot I got to go to sleep... It's 3:40 am on this side of the blue dot
  15. Mates, I have to tell you somethin'... It's a... five liters tank indeed
  16. Cool Let me know when you'll upload your pics.
  17. Wanna try something mineral...
  18. Found this vid. "This film shows the known universe as mapped through astronomical observations. Every satellite, moon, planet, star and galaxy is represented to scale and in its correct, measured location according to the best scientific research-to-date." Just awesome When we see how incredibly small is our planet, it should make us thinking...
  19. I do appreciate to read you. Definitely.
  20. Yes it does, Caryl. But I'm sure NZ chocolate cake is nothing more than special. Look ! Savouring a little dark chocolate under a long white cloud, is there someting better in the whole wide world ? So according to my stomach, it's a good reason for a trip on an airplane
  21. Wok's chocolate cake... Dark chocolate... Ok. You don't point me anything. Let's simplify : I'm gonna call Air New Zealand.
  22. I agree with you 60 wide is better for the depth feeling (the perspective). 180 x 60w --> :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Considering the more the glass is thick, the more expensive it is. 50 high needs only 10mm thick 60 high needs 12mm (with bracing)
