    The What's Up? thread.

hahaha Alan @ MF4L - looks very much like a kitty we once had too. Her name was Kitty  As of 230pm this afternoon I am officially on my holiday from work. Please all of you hurry to your PCs to entertain me :happy2:
  2. it's fun when the fry show their faces but don't give up if it doesn't happen straight away. if you check out my breeding experiment thread you'll see I give up quite easily :slfg:
  3. got a link? I want to read about it. If my cat tried to attack someone he would only meow them into deafness
  4. I am not a fan of Campbell and his emotionalised stories so I purposely avoided his story and won't be watching it on that site either. None of my cats have ever killed native birds, not that they wouldn't given the chance, but in the suburbs it seems unlikely that a native bird would be down low enough. When we lived on Waiheke they were around because of the nearby bush but again, the only native that was caught was a fledgling tui that fell out of the nest and my cat was perched looking at it like it was an alien from outer space. So in truth, my cat has only ever helped the natives by killing the imported birds. :digH: I voted no, I will be replacing my cat when he meets his demise. And yes, he is neutered, microchipped, defleaed and vaccinated and I consider myself a responsible cat owner. If they brought in license fees I'd comply, as dumb as it is. Certainly a cat has never bitten a child's face off or bitten an old lady in the leg. Just say no to Campbell!
  5. so you can snoop on their photos? except you aren't really snooping because they have displayed them on purpose :dno:
  6. They are pretty hardy fish so I think your current experiment should work pretty well. If you are taking the adults out it might take a week or 2 before you start seeing the fry, they hang out right at the water line and you can see their sparkly eyes. Once they are hatched you are supposed to do frequent small water changes and frequent small feedings but each to his own depending on home routines and all that. Microworms are really good for them, the adults and the fry will eat them. If you can get any other live food then feed that as much as you can.
  7. Yyou could have a few more in a 25 litre tank but if you decide not to they will love being in the mossy tank, and without friends there will be much less eating of the eggs. try it out and see... they are hardy little fish. Maybe leave them in there for 4 or 5 days to give them time to settle down just in case they do miss the group.
  8. I think it's crap being blown about by the filter that sticks to normal sort of minor algae (that's the technical name I just made up). My tanks have had this before. If you get a dropper and squirt it at the crap it might just blow away and get sucked into the filter.
  9. am I the only person worried that Pupu Springs might be a dodgy place to swim .... :gigl:
  10. could also blanket the top in duckweed if you can find it, the light will only sneak through the gaps I have seen on one of Zev's threads (might find it if you search on her name and daphnia together) that she covered part of her bulb with foil
  11. that was a good movie :lar:
  12. just had a thought :nilly: if you fancy a trip to Cornwall Park, down Twin Oak drive you can pick up all sorts of twiggy twigs that are made of wood that won't poison the tank. That's where I got mine from.
  13. that C02 must be pretty good if it's making the driftwood pearl :digH:
  14. depends how far from the Equator you are
  15. looks good, except the rock on the right needs shifting 1.7 degrees east I think minnows will look best, danios might look a bit big and if you end up with small shrimp then the fish and shrimp will all be comparitively sized. Danios seem to be more zippy than the minnows and I think the theme leans towards relaxing minimalism than darting fish. Also the red in the minnows will compliment the red in the rocks and substrate.

    The What's Up? thread.

I was looking forward to the Night Markets starting up in Onehunga this Thursday but I discovered that due to some handwringers it's been postponed. Why live next to a shopping mall if you don't want to be near people ?! :an!gry :dno:
