  1. Just waiting for night and then I'll take a photo.
  2. Now rescaped, some old inhabitants, some new .... :spop: (plant above was later rediagnosed as a barclaya, not a crypt)
  3. There are tiger barbs but I think you mean clown loaches, in which case they can get much bigger than 10-15cm and live for a long time.
  4. Only you just kidding :digH:
  5. cool they look quite big, either that or your camera takes a good macro photo
  6. so you finally found some shrimp
  7. is the Russell White House the same as the Queen St White House?
  8. try this, you don't lose any space in the boot on a more serious note if you are willing to sacrifice the spare tyre this sort of thing could work:

    The What's Up? thread.

Denny Crane is more than just a pretty face. Well done Denny  what's happening?
  10. I wondered about that but they were so little I thought it couldn't be. pH was about 7 and it is a sponge filter so nowhere for them to go, and the substrate was fine gravel on one side, bare tank on the other. I'll keep checking the ammonia and making sure I don't feed them too much. My husband thought that microworms might cause it, because of the rotting porridge, but I've only been scraping them off the sides, not taking them from the base.
  11. I have a lot of chocolate to get through. My husband gave me a basket with 3 different kinds of chocolate bunnies, creme and caramello eggs and some mint chocolate eggs, and a smarties egg. Also in there were 2 mini loaves of gingerbread. I gave him a creme egg, an eggosaurus and another hollow egg. In the cupboard there was already a set of 3 for $3 cadbury bars. It might be too much.... even for me ... 8)
  12. Decided to move aside the plants in the killie fry tank to see how many were hiding as I never see that many of them out and about. I found only 3 left from 23 I checked all the water parameters and found ammonia was higher than I've ever seen, up to 50ppm. So I fished out the last 3 into some other tank's water, did a 75% water change, added some extra Prime and put the fish back in. It's a bit of a puzzle why the ammonia was so high because I felt that I was underfeeding them rather than over, and I can't think of anything else immediately obvious that I did wrong. So I've put the cause down to involuntary ignorance &c:ry
  13. Scattered eggs that make it to hatching become little half alive fish that languish on the floor of the tank or in the moss and are unable to move for a few days. After that they can usually dart about but even then they are easy pickins'
  14. Talking to yourself in the mirror? :spop: I'm going to rescape my planted tank I reckon
  15. my Juwel filter does the same thing, I have to fill the water past the maximum line by about 4mm for it to stop burbling. Every 2 or 3 weeks it starts again, I add another cup of water or 2 and it's quiet again.
  16. The biggest fry are always out. In the planted tank I had quite a big group of adults and they were always out. There were usually a couple of fat females or the alpha male hiding under the filter but at dinner time they would come out to feed at the back of the group. In the breeding tank there are only 2 fish so they are very shy, sometimes I only see one dart past for a week or more and then I go disturbing all the plants to make sure the other one hasn't died and is rotting somewhere. They seem to like a bit of free swimming room and some hiding places, if they were in a tank full of moss from top to bottom I don't think they would come out much.
  17. Soak dried food in a bit of tank water and fire it in towards them with a dropper from the chemist. They like food they can chase.
