Just stunning, if i get 1/4 of the colour ill be happy
  2. Yeah but 3/4 of ppl stating basic set ups are newbies, no ? the will go straight to the LFS, rather than import. Pretty much all of those ppl dont know of this website nor many other websites plus the best ones are in 120v ie reefs.org reefcentral.com so it is probably more hassle to them. Plus they are getting started in a basic setup, wouldnt we be assuming they are buying this basic equipment locally.
  3. Aaron I tend to disagree, if my return pump failed my four 3300 L\H seios would happily keep every thing alive, the heat from the light plus the heat generated by the pumps would just keep the system going. And i feel the laguna's are high quality. I see no need for an iwaki, on a basic set up, also as Pet Planet said its more off the shelf stuff, ppl setting up will buy retail not import pumps and the iwakis arent really available here
  4. I love my laguna pond pump, Its a UP or 7 cant remeber now, very happy with this, have no probs recomending it, aswell as it being a return pump it will easily run my denitrator and CaCO3 buffer cylinders. Mine cost a little less than 2.5k to set up http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?t=5363 http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?t=5166 This is a couple of weeks old and starting to colour up
  5. Cher, damn tiny four footer .
  6. Joes juice is available here, I prefer boiling water in a 5ml with a hypodermic needle, nothing like the sweet smell of boiling pest anemones, I am sure it is a baby now part of that is coz the damn thing wont stop moving around, and I belive it may have spilt during this. I am actually contemplating selling it except for the disappointment of my clowns
  7. Mmm about the same as a ten cent piece, there is the possibility it's a Majano anenome but i inspect all my LR very carefully and remove/keep an eye on such things. Im not sure what sp exactly, when i got it it had a awesome red base, so besides that red base LTA
  8. Wow my tank is not even 6 months old, had my anenome for 2-3 and its has split :)
  9. That last stag is da shiznit. I've got a frag of the fifth pic down right hand green acro (doing well) Cant wait for more  Are his tank specs any where ? Ben

  14. I agree with the above two posts, but if it is shiny i wouldnt be to concerned unluss its like that for more than 7 days, a healthy leather in my experiance should close its polyps regulary to shed its mucus coating at least once every two days in order to grow. Many of my leathers had been closed or semi untill i pulled out my lemonpeel and coral beauty my lemon was almost orange !!! Still might try my luck with a flame angel Have a look aat fay's tank her's are cranking under streams. BTW Aaron (duke) ill try ring you tommorow to finish our talk, sorry for not calling you back last week. Ben

    acropora info

Your mostly right about absorption by the water, when looking up while diving you'll mostly see neptunes window and alot of darkness, around the outside od that. I saw a few sps corals in raro just snokelling at about 1 meter if that and it was basicallly 6.5k
  16. i know of many pplwho have done it but personally i wouldnt recomend it, i think wintering them is a bit on the cruel side

    acropora info

mine gets morning syn one corner, afternoon sun whole tank all year, realy seems to help till i beef up the lighting.
  18. carefull, could spread, its alk and pH in my exp but pie's prob really seems like something else. Have you tried using reef dip ?
  19. You cant easily remove acro crabs (xanthid's) etc without killing, damaging or stressing them to near death. They are really a bonus to someone who buys an sps coral and i personally i wouldnt remove them. I allways look over new corals/rocks for baddies ie mantis shrimps and rehouse them out of harms way I tend to have the same feeling about other rocks as well, they are a bonus to who ever is buying the coral, i try to inspect the rock and if they want what ever is on the rock ill leave it be, if they dont want to take the gamble ill do my best to remove it
