  3. My dad has decided against setting one up for my sister so I plan on setting one up for myself , I'm still after an all in one setup just for the ease of the light/hood, and have been looking at the blue planet classic 50, but at $250 brand new is slightly too much for me.... does anyone know where I could get one of those cheaper or some other option.... (except an aqua one tank  )
  4. coldwater , a filter, a lid so that he/she cannot escape (they will try!!!), and things that it wants to move around and hide in/under/anywhere that it can..... or Khuli loaches!!!!!!!

Hi there so have you got enough tanks in there yet ??
  13. Grats :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Im guessing alot?? feeding wise anything that they can fit in their mouths, regarding the article most tetras would be similar to that
  14. It would work if you managed to get the CO2 as stable as possible and you managed to get a similar CO2 usage between the sump and the actual tank..... (e.g using 5ppm for lighting of main tank then 5ppm for lighting of sump)
  15. It says Excel is derived from: ........ From a lot of other sites it seems that people's shrimps are fine with excel.....
  16. And you know this how??? It will be higher, the amount higher depends on how well you get it going, Is their really much point to it though if you don't use DIY ?? It's effectively just a sponge for the CO2 at night Gah I read that bit wrong
  17. Hmmmmmm......... And what happened to a fewGBA babies
  18. If you use a smaller tube, like air pump tubing it works fine and I would do it into a bucket just ot make sure I diddnt suck up alot it also works if you try and keep it near the top
  19. Depends on how stable you can get your DIY mix, I personally wouldn't risk it with shrimp and would go down the excel route, It would work though if you managed to get good reverse photosynthesis setup going it would work fine Also what do you mean by only DIY :o
  20. http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/myplants/83-Creeping_Jenny_Lysimachia_nummularia_Aurea.html It comes in a reddish variety as well theres a couple of different species of Hygrophila you could use ones also purpley red and if its inside probably polysperma water sprite... the native glosso if you have enough light these plants http://www.aquabotanic.com/abstore/en-us/dept_31.html
  21. The parents wont't eat the fry but will eat eggs if they can get to them before they fall to the bottom and its not the fact that they might its the fact that the bigger fry will get to the smaller fry and eat them

    Loaches?

Yoyo loaches grow to about 12-15cm, but are one of the best eaters of MTS, zebra loaches grow to 7-8cm but loaches are genreally schooling fish and need a minimum of 3 not sure about their snail eating abilities this could work if you were willing to buy a few smaller loaches (at least) regarding the snail trap that would also work if you you can also get one off trademe but im pretty sure if you shove a bit of cucumber/similar in there overnight and pick it out in the morning it will be covered in snails (I think)
  23. Most of them??     you would be better off trying to get some pond plants from palmers most of them can be grown as stem plants immersed just read the labels
  24. Two males and four females it is , I haven't got ones for these yet but I have got one with goldies in it atm, its something like 50cm x30cm x30cm (LxWxH) Does reaching a marketable size mean they wont fit in goldfishes mouths?? Reading a bit more from the internets I'm thinking of getting 3 containers, 4 males 8 females, then seperate the males and females for 1-2 weeks feed really well, then stick two trios in two of the containers fill with a lot of water sprite then once the females have laid their eggs remove them to the other container filled with more water sprite and see if they will breed in that as well
