Seems I found the problem - the o-ring that seals between the top basket and powerhead - when I assemble the unit, I used to have the oring on the head, but by fitting it to the basket, then putting the head on worked. Cheers for the help guys. I have a whisper quiet filter now

mmm so everything seems fine. Have checked and tightened all connections. Have unassembled and reassembled unit, have knocked it around, lay on its side etc and hasnt fixed it. Anyway, Apart from the noise being slightly annoying, it surely cant be bad? putting oxygen into the water I mean.

Will give this a go later. cheers. I tried everything else, checked and tightened all hoses and locks on the intake side of things to no avail. rocking the unit around causes the noise to be made instantly. My output rate is still good though.

My 1 month of Aquaone CF1200 is giving me some problems. Every ten minutes or so it makes a noise - like its de-pressurizing or something. Ive had it apart 3 times this week, made sure all the o-rings between baskets are sealing properly etc, removed, cleaned and checked the impeller, and the same with all the hoses. Is this normal, if not, what causes it?

My 620T doesnt have one. Just had a plastic rim around the bottom.

In my 3 footer with a jewel i have 2 convicts 2 keyholes 1 blue acara 2 firemouths and a red tail shark.

Had no problems with my jewel. He does boss everyone around despite only being a bit bigger. My Firemouth used to boss my convict around until I bought another slightly bigger male con, no the 2 cons team up and having flaring matches with the firemouth. Great to watch, and no harm being done. My Cichlids all share territory, its quite interesting. They have no problems and all hang out at the front of the tank together. I suppose they are all still small (around 2'')

I lost all the eggs They were slowly disappearing yesterday due to the female fanning them with her fins to circulate water over them, she knocked quite a few off, and blew a few off. The number was very very low last night, so before bed, I draped a T shirt in the tank to cordon them off. Woke up this morning to find one lone penguin tetra in the cordoned off area, and no eggs... with the parents still fast asleep. Will they spawn again soon do you think? Ill be moving the tetras if they spawn again.

Here we go, lots more eggs, and both parents. I turned off one of my lights as the eggs are light sensitive, so pic not very good...

Got lots now Its quite funny, the angel pictured, I sexed as a male, especially with the bump on the head - and the striped angel I thought was a female... well they are the other way around

Those plants are all cuttings. I doubt theyd grow quite bushy. Id clump some together. Like today, I bought some stargrass, I bough 10 and bunched them together and look great

I got it from HFF albany. Was in the plant tanks with other tropical plants. Looked stunning when I put it in, may have to replace it with a few Vallis. Cheers, I had real trouble finding any info on the interweb.

My two big angels (a male and a female) are current hanging out by my filter intake tube. The male is repeatably 'eating' or 'kissing' the tube as though cleaning it. The female is hanging around and chases my small angel away whenever it comes too close. Are they going to spawn?

Is there any rule of combing various treatments for plants as still as they are used in their recommened quantities? Ie. using flourish excel, whilst using CO2 Tabs, and leafzone. Thinking of fertiliser balls too. My cyprus is yellow and brown after just a few days :evil: Water conditions are okay, if a bit soft - ph 6.6-6.8 Cheers

I have a 3 inch jewel in a 3 foot with a baby con, a 4'' blue acara, and a pair of 2'' firemouths. Its always at the head of the food queue, but doesnt bully anyone else.

You could always just have it setup ready to go if you ever need a fry tank, hospital tank or isolation tank - when you need it, its simply a case of turning the heater on, syphoning a load of water from your 4ft, and some filter media, and away you go.

Hopefully it works. My Cyprus turned yellow after 3 days of being planted...

Could be worth re-doing the tank layout, effectively resetting all territories.

As the tablet is dissolving, do you get a lot of the white powder from the tablet falling through the holes into the tank? Anyone would think I feed my fish cocaine... especially as they try to eat it - I have to feed them to prevent them from doing so! So is the chamber filled with water or air? cheers

Anyone used one of these kits? Picked one up off trademe for $50 to give a try. It consists of a container that goes in the tank stuck to the glass, and tablets. Tablets go in, dissolve and store CO2 in the container which then releases a steady flow of bubbles (Around 2500 per tab) over a 24 hr period. Now the instructions arent very clear, so I need help if anyone knows. Am I meant to submerge the reactor with the top bung in - thereby having a large air pocket inside or do I submerge with the bung out, pressurising it with water instead? Cheers

My partner wants a red parrot, she thinks they are cute. I actually wouldnt mind one either! Anyone know how big they actually grow? The internet says 6-8'', smaller in smaller tanks. Ive never really believed the 'fish wont grow big in a small tank' theory. Anyone had experience with parrots? how big do they grow? Cheers
