  1. What diffuser are you using P44?
  2. I'd estimate I'm running around 3 bps at the moment (not that that's an accurate unit of measurement ) but will have to drop it when I stock the tank.
  3. Well I am using a sodastream bottle, they're supposed to carbonate water
  4. http://img9.ph.126.net/TLak_lBFfl0pgncW ... 126849.jpg
  5. Lazy Sunday afternoon, the sun sneaked up on the tank while I was gaming. Shows just how much CO2 I'm pumping into this bad boy.
  6. Yeah unfortunately pressurised CO2 for larger tanks is still very expensive here, you could go the sodastream route but you'd be looking at a bottle a week so $50 a month.
  7. There's one for $284 on TM, that's a 2kg cylinder so around x7 times the size of a sodastream cylinder, they can be anywhere between $200-$350 really.
  8. For the cost of refills it would almost be worth getting a full sized cylinder I think. Everything except the adaptor (which can be found on TM) and the cylinder (bought from Mitre10, Briscoes or TM) can be bought from fish-street.com

    Project AA

So today I decided to catch the embers and tear down the tank. All live stock is out of the tank and it's waiting for a good clean and rescape. Here's the plan:
  10. The cheapest I can do it for is as follows (inc. shipping) $98 regulator with solenoid $45 adaptor $40 per sodastream bottle new (around $20 second hand on TM) Diffuser, bubble counter, check valve etc anywhere from $20 up to $50 usually Refills cost around $12 and last a 60x30x30 high tech tank around a month. How big is the tank you want it for?

    Acrylic Tanks

I'd talk to an acrylic fabricator, they know all about plastic welding and what strength their products have. Surely a rectangular box would be easy enough for them.
  12. What happens after you treat the symptoms? The cause will still be there and it'll just come back. You need more flow dude.
  13. The best aquascapes are those modelled off terrestrial scenes, not underwater ones.
  14. $0.0175 for a bit of health insurance for your (possibly expensive) fish, not bad.
  15. Of course not. It also can't take power if the water is too warm for it to turn on.
  16. That's some nice rock, I was going to get something similar but then the tide came in Looking good
  17. Why are you comparing heaters with stereos? :-?
  18. It depends, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) most heater thermostats use a bimetallic strip which works using simple mechanics and no electricity until the strips touch.
  19. This. I guess some people don't understand how thermostats work? :-?
  20. I've forgotten in both Winter and Summer, neither of which the fish enjoyed. Personally, I'm keeping my heaters
  21. I think this forum needs an "Edible things I made" thread :gigl:
  22. I don't So we're into day 5 of this project and we have growth! So far only a few of the bunches have visible shoots but I bet there's heaps going on in the substrate right now. Notice the O2 on the blades, the hairgrass is pearling with all the CO2 I'm dumping in. Looking at getting some occupants next month too. Stay tuned folks.
  23. Now THAT is illegal. Shooting and killing is fine, shooting to hurt it is not.
  24. Last time I forgot to plug my heater in, all my fish were laying on the bottom almost motionless. Never have I had fish happy in a tank without a heater no matter what time of year it is. They create these products for a reason ya know
