Here's the female tending to the eggs.

Cheater! I saw the parents cleaning the leaf and thought something was up, went back to show Mum how they cleaned the leaf and there were eggs all over it. No hope for these guys though, first time parents and a dozen hungry neons about.

Bingo! That was a short game

Anyone want to play guess the egg?
  7. Why the dislike of snails? They clean up any left overs, tackle the algae and keep the substrate healthy.
  8. Yeah that sounds like her, wait till it's feeding time and you won't be able to get rid of her  I'm loving my amazon sword, they're awesome feature plants.
  9. Your new fish looks great! I bet he's loving all of that room. Did you plant the crypts yet?
  10. The photo is of two you smart arse! There are four in the tank, the female is under 5cm long so a tiny clutch sounds right.
  11. About a week ago I introduced the first fish to the tank pictured below. As you can see, the layout has GBA in mind with a nice piece of bogwood and a few decent plants. I took the largest male and only female from the AA tank in hope that they would breed in a year or two. I didn't see much of the male at all since I put him in but the female has been relatively visible. To my surprise I saw four little wrigglers today on the back glass. Anyways, here's the all important photos.
  12. Or if you're not big on Facebook: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=64200
  13. Both of my Sunsun 302 are dead quiet and always have been. I've had them in my lounge and bedroom without an issue.
  14. I've used the 2213 and found it pretty rubbish, the largest tank I use it on is a 54L and it only just does the job, I'd only ever buy a bargain one second hand. In theory a 2200lph filter would do 7 times hourly turn over on a 300L tank, probably 4-5 times in practise. Are you planning on having it very heavily stocked?
  15. I've used Eheims and Sunsuns, the Sunsuns win hands down. Much larger and easier to use, being half the price is a big factor too. They go all the way up to 2000lph I believe, two of those on a 300L tank should be sufficient.
  16. I have managed to get them to work with DIY but diffusing the CO2 without pressure (i.e into a filter intake) is much safer and easier. Have you considered getting a pressurised unit?
  17. It kind of looks like it's taken from the upper left. You'd be surprised what a difference the angle makes.
  18. Any chance you could take a photo directly front on?
  19. Glass gear is always a risk, I've started using in tank atomisers (plastic) and they're doing well so far. However they do require a high working pressure.
  20. Welcome to the fishroom Josh. Sorry to hear about your loss of fish, do you have any idea of the water quality? Did the fish show any signs of illness before they died? As far as your 70L tank goes, it sounds fairly full at the moment.
  21. Yeah I'm familiar with that hood, where abouts in Auckland are you? If you go into Aquatic Plants and find a thread called AA Project you can see my modifications. I've since reverted to the original 23.5" T8 single tube however.
  22. What you want to be doing it chopping the top half of the stems off once they reach the surface and replanting them in bunches of 3-5 near where you cut them from. This will create a much more dense appearance and give you that heavily planted look.
