I use a single tube light on both my 3 foot tank and on my 500x400x550
I have no probs with low light, all my plants grow fine, I too think a double tube light is overkill, but obviuosly the deeper the tank then the stronger the light needs to be.

The dowel as suggested by Ira and Jude would be the best way as it will give you a join that will be basically invisible.
If you use the nylon you will be able to attach plants to the wood if you wish. just remember to get the right plants I.e Anubias, Java Fern etc
Also can anyone tell me if the curve of the dorsal fin on the angel in the first two pics is normal, Like I aid this is my first lot of angels and am still learning.
Cheers B
P.s nice colouration in those angels Fins.
Just thought I would see how many people have angels and what colours are out there.
I have two males and a female so if anyone oput there needs a male I am looking for a female similar in colour.
Am quite interersted in this as I have just aquired my first three angels and here are some pics:
Cheers B
Back on topic here are some of the new plattie I bought, to introduce new lines.
The new platties consit of a male and female that are blue with orange tails, and two females one blue with black tail and fins and the other yellow at the face fading through to black at the tail.
