I am thinking of setting up an african tank but we are on rain water. I have been reading that they like hard water with a higher ph will rain water be allright if I had some lime stone in the tank. Also are there any africans that are particualy good for beginers?

Ok I havnt lost any fish and the cory that was real bad seems as good as new for now. I might get some white spot treatment just to be safe though.

What sort of angle do you have it on? could you put in something to circulate the water? If you do take it back you could try swaping for a fluval one I got one second hand and it works great and is so accurate.

Ok it seems a lot better this morning will do another gravel vac today because the spots are droping off and the corys are the only fish with it.

Is this just for the tank and is it new or second hand?

Seems a bit better now and has been eating some food and swimming around a bit more so will see how it is in the morning.

have ript all the plants out and vacumed the gravel 1 cory is covered and looking sad while the other is looking fine. Would daily water changes help or just cause to much stress? would a salt bath help cause ive read that corys are sensative to salt.

Hi my tank has broken out in white spot and 1 of the corys has it pretty bad. Have done a 50% water change increased surface agitation and am in the process of increasing the temp from 22 to 28 slowly and have also treated with tonic salt. Is there any thing else I can do? my friend lost all his fish to this. Its the first time I have had the disease so dont know what to expect.

Yea a siamese fighter was swimming round the tank with it in his mouth so put it in a ice cream container floating in the tank its colours are brightning up a bit since then so hope it will be allright.

I dont use any chemicals in the tank because I find alot of them dont work and are a bit of a waste of money.

Thanks the stuff than I got is Aloe arborescens and from what I read this is a medical one. I wouldn't think it should be rubed on. I was thinking that I could blend the juice up and mix with water has anyone done this?

Could someone tell me if aloe vera is ok to use on a fish that jumpt out his tank? because I remember seeing a bottle of water treatment that said now with aded aloe vera and theres heeps and heeps of it in the garden.

A friend of mine has a red tail with a golden algae eater and the red tail gets bulied. It seems to have a lot to do with the individual fish. How much plants have you got in the tank? because I find my albino is a bit scared of the bright light. -

In my tank I have a rainbow and albino rainbow the normal rainbow is smaller and I find they dont bicker if the temp is a bit colder mines 22-24, a few caves so there not in constant visian , well fed and clean water. I personaly wouldnt get a red tail with an albino because the red tails can be nuts and the albino IMO is a bit weaker or dopier than the red tail and rainbow, hope this helps. -

Today i got 2 bronze corys done a large water change and it looks like there breeding but I doubt it because I only just put em in. The male is chasing the female and running his barbels against her body then they dash off slow down and do it again then the female will rub her head against his belly then she darts off and hides. Is this normal behaivour? because I doubt they are spawning

I would use the convicts just for cycling and then get rid of them. There prety much indistructable. I sold my breeding pair in January and found some more in the tank a few days ago all the power had been off and have not put any food in tank.
