  1. Cool will let you know there are normaly a few tadpoles by now, but have not seen any yet. Theres a couple of big green ones hanging round though.
  2. Could some one please tell me what sort of frogs these are they take over the pool each year.
  3. I am looking into a water filter, my fish seem happy enough with out one though and I drink a few liters of tap water a day with out any ill efects.
  4. I am going to make one because I am on rain water anyway, thanks for the idea LYNDYLOO.
  5. My tanks are up steers and I use buckets for my water changes, its good exersize. It gets easier each water change
  6. I go to the beach for mine cause I like the variations that you come across and I can get drift wood at the same time.
  7. Oh yeah thats true but I use the net to do the pool it will leave some muck behind but gets loads out.
  8. We have a 5 meter by 14 meter pool and have to clean the muck up every summer and we would never just use the vaccume as is clogs up after a 2 meter strip, Then you have to flush the filter gunk out witch takes 10 minutes each time. You could get a pool net and scrape it accros the ground thats what I do and then dump a whole heap of chlorine in which clears it up in no time.
  9. Yeah I am just going to make a rock cave instead.
  10. Might just put 1 in a bucket and test the ph in a few days to be safe. Would kribs lay eggs in a pvc pipe instead if the pot raises the ph to much.
  11. Ok its only a few guppies in their at the moment. are these any good for testing the ph? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =228980907
  12. I will put it in then. I have chucked lots of rocks in my tank and they fizzed an never had any problems.
  13. Yeah its terracotta I thought it was just the air coming out.
  14. I was hoping to put a flower pot in my tank with a pair of kribs but was fizzing in the water should I chuck it in any way or leave it ?
  15. If I do go with the riverine bio type idea would I be able to have a bichir in 180 liters?
  16. So if I buffer it with some shells in the filter it should stop the ph dropping more? . Ive never had an issue with ph in my other tanks.
  17. I just put a rock on mine.
  18. I read they can live in a ph of 5-8 and are not to fusy as long as its clean and has good circulation from a filter to help simulat the river they live in. I was thinking I could get away with out using buffering the water.
  19. So if I use beach sand thats close to the shore with shells through it would that be enough to buffer it?
  20. What is the smallest bichir you can get and would one be allright with lump heads? I thought 180 would be to small for one.
  21. That tank looks nice what are the gold coloured rocks on the right?
  22. Cool I was just thinking of going for a simple tank with just them. How many could I have in a tank that size? I also thought that the ph could be a bit higher due to having a concrete water tank would this raise the ph?
  23. Hi still looking for a tank at the moment looking at one thats 180 liters that comes as a full set up. I was thinking a few buffalo cichlids but unsure hoe difficult they are to keep.
