i had a look around for him/her when i took the last piks.. will check again later when i do WC the blacks have started darkening up now as have alot of the other colors some of the color patterns are starting to look real nice and seems to be a very good spread of colors in the tank.... pity they tend to move so much... it takes about 60photos to get a few to post up here that arent a blur as they swim around constantly

ive got a custom heated fish room currently in the build.. so that will solve most of my problems until then the ones that ive already had to seperate (already seperated couple of the blues due to their size and dont want them damaging fins) are in one of my two aqua one 12cell storage display units these are okay for growing fighters.. although i dont think its fair to keep them couped up in them for their whole lifes.. i keep a couple of tanks that i alternate fish in to give them time to swim . are setting up a couple of large 160litre tanks for the bottle storage method.. execept i plan to use 3l juice containters to give them more room to swim

they are coming up 8weeks/2months now.. there is a big varience in size some are still small others have grown dramatically

i generally use a 60litre tank for spawning halfmoons i have it bout 4inches (100mm full) it gives the female somewhere to escape to etc

Lol thats a small tank dont do water changes until you have to watch your feeding.. dont over feed as ul pollute it fast monitor the waste and remove using a small air line hose syphon.. but careful to not suck fry up i wouldnt do daily WC until the fry are of a decent age/size

i myself wont cross them anymore.. only breeding true lines .. and if i cant get pure breeders i wont breed them... ive got a couple nice ct males awaiting a pure ct female or two .... just havent found any i want yet lol mainly concentrating on halfmoons now anyhows but i guess its personal prefrence that i only want to breed pures they are easier to sell ,plus your not filling the nz market with fish with unknown lines, who knows at end of day most of the fish we see have to be started somewhere by crossing some varient / selective breeding process.. you never know what will come out of a spawn ive never been too much of a fan of pk fighters , ive had a couple of pairs.. one melano black and one pure white but i onsold them

nope.. the liquid fry starts the infusioria production.. the fry dont feed off the liquid fry as such.. the micro bacteria eats the liquid fry and then the fry eat them

id start using liquid fry now if you dont have a stock of infusoria

hmmm yeah im just divertisifying (sp) breeding more than just fighters at moment... dont really know how long il keep breeding fighters to be honest.. il let the next few months decide for me il see how my future spawns go etc

theoretically.... yes practically.... who knows could be a fun expiriment for you tho

pk are generaly used for fighting due to the tougher scales etc and less chance of ripping fins etc pk is gene so the amount of split between a spawn can vary.. would depend on the genes of the mother/father etc if there is more of that gene present you might get more or less etc it will either go one way or the other... not that im that good at the genetics thing!

yeah there defintly seems a lack in demand at the moment for decent fish its quite a shame.. its made me re consider finishing my fish room was quite a shame to see DLUMS on trademe struggle to sell pairs of halfmoons for $20. i dont mind paying decent money for well bred fish .. and def dont expect to pay a mere $2 hahaa

defintly will be uploading more update piks soon.. just got to get around to taking some more pictures of them they havent changed much since last lot just grown a bit more.. few have grown longer fins but nothing dramatic yet , just bit more color in finage :bounce:

correct... you never know whats sitting in the lines of the parents there are so many differnt colors in this spawn its not funny alot are going red/black based few blacks greens yellows blues its quite nice to have a mixed spawn for a change

hahah we looked at a house a while back... had a huge pool... ie was about 10m wide and good 40m+long it was full of misquito larve etc i looked at it and thought aloud about if that was heated it would make a awesome fighter tank at 800,000litres!! stuff WC it tho lmao

yeh they not ment to be fat...feeding less more oftten is better i used to overfeed my fighters..prob stil do considering lol

it all comes down to your care of them as i have a spawn of about 60 pure red hms ... and a spawn of 150-180 blue black hms ... the blue black hms are doing way better than the red ones growth wize they are catchin up fast to their brothers who are nearly 2 months ahead in age culling is a good thing if you can bring your self into doing it... but you never know how a certain fish is going to turn out

i think that amount for me even id choke!!! i can deal with spawns of around 200 but dont really want any more i guess if you had a spawn of 500 you would soon learn to cull the ones to only keep the best.. i just dont like doing it

yup give him a diet for a while... try feed him a cooked pea after 24hours tro tie the hunger over i just fed all my fighters some good old peas last nite.. only one of them decided he was too good for them! others seemed to love them i try give them occ to keep their digestive system all good
