  1. lol.. Must've been a light feeding day then. Every single time I'm there for feeding time, that tank gets a TRAY of bloodworms - awesome feeding frenzy lol.
  2. 1. I use gravel in my tank (not sand) and my fire eel is fine - he doesn't dig (yet) because he's not strong enough to move the stones but he swims around and hides behind the filter intake happily enough. 2. Zebra spiney referring to another eel? I'm not sure, but I've read that eels do not co-exist, one per tank regardless of species - but I might be wrong. 3. A bristlenose pleco should fit well in a 70L tank and they are great algae eaters. 4. Glass catfish are really easy to care for and they school when you have a group of 6 or more - eat just about anything that fits into their tiny mouths (flake, brineshrimp, bloodworms). Can't remember their max size though.
  3. Enjoy the rest of this life because when you come back around in the next life, you'll probably end up as a newly hatched brine shrimp whose owner will knock you over with his inexperienced bumble fingers..
  4. LivingArt, you should stick your face at the peep hole and have someone take a photo of the front of the tank! It would look awesome! Old school diver look hahaha...
  5. Mudskippers and archerfish! Have a small mud bank with some branches and let some insects loose in there - enjoy the hunt!
  6. lol! I agree! Their service is almost TOO good haha. When you enter, someone will approach you and ask if you need help. You say no, they move on. Someone ELSE will walk out of the storeroom or another part of the store, see you and approach you and ask if you need help. Haha, too much of a good thing can be bad (or maybe there's no pleasing some people )
  7. At least not without donning goggles and rubber gloves first! :smln:
  8. In 3 years, I didn't attend a SINGLE course in which they didn't specifically warn us not to cite Wikipedia lol. Even at Stage 3 they remind us...
  9. Really?? I find the opposite to be true. Everytime I go into a Petstop, it's only to kill time lol, I always leave empty-handed. If you compare the prices of say, fish food between Petstop and HFF, the difference is about $10-20. Their puppies are cute, but I won't buy fish from them. Their tanks are always covered in algae, have dead fish in them and generally don't show that they care for their fish as much as their furry animals. The two branches on Dominion Road and in Newmarket also have a couple of marine tanks which never have any fish inside but are constantly overrun with brown algae. I hope that the branch in Botany is better managed, but if you're passing by the Dominion Road/ Newmarket branches, don't bother stopping by - you're better off driving a little bit more to get to HFF Mt Roskill.
  10. UNLESS it's from Wikipedia, because the information there is submitted by subject matter experts and is constantly being reviewed for accuracy. In Wikipedia we trust! :sage:
  11. Can't find the link, I saw it on a poster here at work lol - literally 2 min after I hit submit for the first post. It's definitely on 16 Oct 2011 at Ambury Farm. Info line on the poster is 3010101. HTH!
  12. Oops! I lie. Ambury Park is having an open day on 16 Oct with 'cow milking' as one of the attractions. You're in luck, Henward!
  13. I don't think you can actually... Sounds like you can only feed the animals. Hmm.. There must be some irony in that someone in NZ can't just go out and milk a cow!
  14. You lost me at 'more'... :dunno:
  15. I like your's too lol! Are you going to put a new fish fact as your signature every week?
  16. :rotf: So I guess from now on when a woman calls me a pig, I should reply, "I WISH!!"
  17. You'd need a large swimming pool to house one properly methinks, not just a tank haha! My friend has a stream behind his yard and you can see dozens of eels there - absolutely massive. :nfs:
  18. If you don't mind a small cab fare, tell the driver to take you to Clementi Block 328 - there are a couple of famous LFS there. If you want to do a short 'road-trip', google 'Qian Hu Fish Farm' and ask the cab driver to take you there. Alternatively, their website has directions to their shuttle bus from one of the train stations (much cheaper option). It's gonna be an awesome time. I'm going there early next year, so I'm going to stock up on fish food lol. MAF people always look at me weird during customs.. :roey:
  19. lol! When a simple  emoticon just doesn't cut it anymore.. :spop:
  20. lol.. A 1/5 life-crisis? My best friend (aged 23) recently bought himself a Mazda MX-5 - it's now known as his 'quarter life crisis' purchase. :slfg: I dunno, I'm just not a fan of convertibles.. Too much wind and not enough security haha. Much prefer an Aston Martin hardtop (so do let me know if you spot one for $40K lol!)
  21. Wow, sounds like Ira/ Matto/ Blueether are all have simultaneous mid-life crisises lol! The breeding business sounds good in theory but my philosophy is, if you love something - don't make it your job. Sure, enjoy your job, but don't make your hobby your job. Otherwise you'll have nothing exciting to come home to haha. And the novelty of owning a fish breeding business will wear off eventually. $40K... Sounds like an indoor heated aro-comm pond/ swimming pool if you asked me! :digH:
  22. Elementary, my dear Henward! :smln: 1. The pictures are nearly particle free (which is rare, with your feeding regime lol!) 2. You've already had some bad photos because of the food particles, didn't expect you to repeat the same mistake... Brutus is looking good - he must be the most pampered fish on this forum lol.
  23. Theoretically, converting a water drum like that into a canister would be awesome if your tank/ bioload were both huge. Sure, it would cost more, but imagine the media you can stuff inside! Probably very, very overkill for a 400L though.
  24. Smoke and mirrors, eh? Fish is looking good but I'm guessing you did the photoshoot soon after feeding time?
