Yeah i agree. Just not sure what Aaron meant by fully cleaning. Syphoning would be better than say taking it out and cleaning it. You tend to have too much crap floating around if you stir it up heaps.

I think the cat fish may have died of natural causes as it was old and ive lost a few from other tanks they are about 7 yrs old Test kitt coming going to layby one and the white stuff in the gravel was in my 3 foot breeding guppy tank.. under the ram that is hard to get it next time i wont mix the gravel up so much I will mark on my calender when to do my tanks.. Had the flu so let them go a bit

I better not moan too much at mine then BUT no more tanks I saw a nice one at the hospice the other day with built in fillter and light for 25 bucks BUT had to walk off lol

Good on you for doing what you do I hope people donate etc My turtle died i had it for at least 12 years or more and it was an adult when I got him I couldnt bear to get another one so I used the tank for breeding guppies I miss the turtle but ccouldnt afford all the new UV lights and an external filter I dont miss changing the water everyweek BUT i miss him hes burried in the rose garden

Hello fellow fishers Been sick on and off so not much tank maintence so doing a good half water change When I clean my gravel and there is white cloud like it came out in a puff is that just fish waste OR ammonia???/ One of my other tanks went all cloudly so I half cleaned it one cat fish died but it was old the angel survived ok And no test kitt yet working on that though

:nfs: Hey everyone thought it would be interesting to see what your power bills have gone upto in the winter with fish I have 1 x 90 litre tank heated , 1 x 75 litre heated and 1 x 3 foot old style tank heated Bill was 159 but 148 with power shop specials I do have a comptuer going all the time and a dish washer every second day. no heating though use a fire Whats your bill with your fish???? I wouldnt want mine to get up anymore the tank in the lounge wouldnt use much as its heated in there rest of house pretty cold

After all the advice on here I only lightly rinse my filter wool out in tank water when its not going as good as it should or the tank is really dirty All those years of washing them under the tap............. Didn't know then, since learning off here i loose harldy any fish :thup: :thup: :thup:

Ok thanks the tank is under a window which is a bit higher than it so wont go green but can change the water easily And these new showers with the handle and long thing you can buy an attachment to hook upto that so i just use the hose!!!!! yay

Still no test kitt but getting one No deaths what so ever fish are fine but still keep changing a few buckets of water Then will work towards an external filter as I will be having 100s of guppies in my 3 foot tank..... If i get an external will i still need weekly water changes??? Thank you

im currently breeding guppies but i only usually sell the fry people like to buy them and see them grow up :bounce:

I got this in my tank. so i just control it will get some stuff its black beard ????? i havent moved anything into my other tank.. i live with it.. it aint that bad but it does wreck the look of your plants

Yes me too but it is getting old its had tanks on it since ive had it for 15 years and it was second hand then I have paiinted it twice there was no rust i could see must be steel as the joins are welded :sml1:

$107 here, last month 97 the month before with power shop was paying upto 150 with mercury and 100 in the summer 3 tanks, one 3 foot, 2 x 90 litre all heated . So not too bad.. Anyone wanna join power shop drop me a line then I get 25 bucks and you get 50 off ya bill hehe. So i really dont think tanks use that much Mind you my house is well insulated and use gas heater and open fire to keep it warmish saying that its not really really cold yet is it

Thanks Sophia I only feed a little bit I learnt that years ago.. My filter dont have a sponge at the moment as I have got other things to get, 3 foot light is coming... anyhow the wool gets clogged quiet fast.. so i just rinse it out. there is 2 filters in the tank until I get my external later
