Hi, olly is gorgeous
Try putting a little honey on your finger coaxing on to your hand, training takes alot of time and patience but you have to stick with it
Usually when I have the honey out - my lori will do anything for me
Welcome to the forums :bounce:
The snowball plecos are real cuties - mines pretty shy though, the only time I get to see him is when i move his log
Hey Ryan,
the fluffy area is pretty much covering one side of the fishes body area quite a thick fluffy coating - I did notice last night that he had like slightly peeling skin - kinda like when they fight then this morning he had a thick fuffy coating. Stupid us put him in the big tank so now I'm panicing the other fish will get it. The other jewel I got with him seems fine no fluff at all and no lessions
- I have managed to get the furan 2 and have put that in the tank now along with the tonic and melafix and salt
... gosh i hope I don't overdose the poor fishie.
Thanks for the reply. We have brought the wee fella and is in our quantine tank at the moment - so will gradually raise the temp over the next few weeks.
But that good to hear your's is doing well - they are quite unique I didn't like them at first but he is growing on me now
Thanks for the reply
will the tonic and melafix help alittle I spent all I had on that medication so won't be able to get the furan till later in the week.
Also will the furan2 be ok to add in with the tonic & melafix or should I put fresh water in and start from stratch - he's in a 10 litre tank at the moment
Only just got the fish 2 days ago - so really not sure if a wound.
Ok so just been down to the LFS - I am gutted the guy who knows everything about fish no longer works there - I got advice from some young girl
I decided on Wunder Tonic & Melafix - have just now dosed the tank
Fingers X'd it works.
OMG that is so sad - it's annoying LFS staff should be trained more in giving the correct ways of bring up that certain animal, but.. the new owners should be researching all about the new pet they will be getting.
Our snakeneck only likes being in water
- we have experiemented on him by leaving the water level below his basking area for a week and in that time did not once come out
We raised the water level in the basking level to 10cm above the basking area and he comes up out under the light
so now we have put a flat piece of slate there so if he wishes to get further out of the water he just climbs up on it
We do take him out every day for his walkies out side which he loves - also we lately have put the heat lamp close to the floor when he's walking around on the carpet
since they are really more aquatic turtles we have notice his shell gets green proberly because his doesn't get to dry out like the red ears do - we just brush his shell once a week with a very soft toothbrush
My jewel has got a white fluffy mould coating on one side of it and not eating, I've just sperated it in a small tank and dosed with salt - do I need to treat with any kind of meds?
I just thought there were the same fish thats always in there - nothing really jump out at me and said BUY ME .. well except for the hatchets. I was alittle disappointed there wasn't more panda cories only the one little guy i did take home
We went in on Friday night and the girl said they sold quite afew fish that day
To be quite honest I thought they would have got some better fish in and more numbers than they had at the palmy shop - but then again I got some nice fish so I'm happy.
They did have alot of tiger barbs - don't recall seeing any green barbs
the senegalus are pretty cool - we gave them abit of ox heart and the bigger one ate out of our hand, very cool, they do a death roll thing to break the heart - the albino is alittle shy though
It was great to meet another palmy person
Yes we also mananged to stock our tanks today (well not yet as they're all in quantine at the mo..)
our list:
1x polypterus senegalus
1x polypterus senegalus albino
1x royal whiptail catfish
1x gorgous dark blue with red siamese fighter
6x rummynose tetras
4x albino cories
6x marbled hatchets
1x female krib
1x panda cory
and we got a selection of plants
What temp is best for them - we are looking at getting one and want it to go into our discus tank where the temp is at 28-29. I've searched google and haven't really got much info but what i have found is that they like it around up to only 26. But we have seen them in the LFS discus tank display tank so thinking maybe it'll be ok.
Hi Gill - good luck with your clown loaches I hope they get better
I really like them, but have heard they're prone to whitespot that's what makes me think twice about getting them - I do know whitespot can't survive in temps above 28* not sure if the loaches like it that warm though
I doubt if they are only young fish that they would be full of eggs.
Usually when my goldfish are having swim bladder problems i put them into a shallow tank - it just makes it easier for them (I might be wrong on that, but it's what i have always done)
I usually pop in 5-6 peas - it's also good to give goldfish peas every now and then as it's kind of like a laxative and cleans them out
I would proberly also suggest feeding your goldfish only once a day
Hi, yes i would also think it's more a bladder problem maybe bloat. Goldfish a little piggys really.
Usually when you put flake in they gulp and take in air - I would suggest you try putting a pinch of flake into the water instead of sprinkling on top.
To help with the fishies bloat problem put some shelled peas in the tank and don't feed them for afew days
Just a thought - are there scales sticking out?
