I never do that, I find out the daily rate for my system and how much per unit etc. etc. - and the cheapest is who I sign with. Contact came out with a fairly high per unit rate.

I recently introduced a new angelfish to my three, there was a bit of territorial reassertion with one of my regular angelfish being somewhat aggressive to the others once the new one arrived. Things have settled down but now this angelfish has developed what looks like a cloudy membrane over it's eye. I tried treating for fungus but no effect. I'm not sure if it is fungus as it looks like a growth over the eye itself as opposed to being on the eye. I tried googling but couldn't find anything satisfactory. I'll try to get a pic of him tonight but I'm crap at taking pics.

Do you... a) try to find one identical and replace it sneakily b) just tell her it died, after all - it will be going back to the fish bowl when she returns (and has been currently living in my tank with the other goldies in the meantime) c) pretend nothing happened: "you only gave me one fish, what do you mean there was two?" d) move :cr7:

Many times, I do it cos Mum can't - just one of those things that some people can or can't do. Had a nice Xmas lunch today at the boss's house - his wife put on a nice lunch and she made a good pav with a dodgy stove - apparently it can only do 250 degrees so she put the pav in for a few minutes and then turned the oven off and let the pav finish cooking. It turned out very well though a little too sweet for my taste, but I think that possibly the extra sugar makes it a bit heavier.

I'm making the pav this year :cr6:

Came home from work tonight to find half my fish floating at the top - that's my two lovely Squeakers, 1 discus, all my rummy noses, half my neon tetras, 1 black widow tetra, and my krib all dead &c:ry

I thought I might try spirulina flakes just to bind it a bit. What about cucumber if courgettes are ok? I washed and boiled the meat - lambs fry and hearts, forgot to cut the fatty bits off but have a hungry cat standing by So, are your fishies bad a lot? :cr10:

The shops didn't have sintered glass - just wool, carbon and noodles. So I bought some more wool and replaced the carbon with it. So the baskets line up with wool on the bottom, noodles in the middle and wool on top - a compromise! :cr12: And the tank seems to be running like a rocket again so I'm rapt- thanks once again for your help everyone :cr9:

I followed the instructions for the filter, it says wool on the bottom and noodles on top. It also says the filter should be sitting under the tank "for best performance". ....I followed the instructions! :nilly: OK, I'll put the filter up higher, I have just the base for it.

Yes, the layer of filter wool sitting under the carbon was there when I got it - whether it came with the filter, or the previous owner added it, I don't know. Sintered glass slows the flow more?

Right, so another bottle of Avitrol plus then?

I just added the whole 25ml bottle of Avitrol plus so will see how it goes :sick: I don't think my vet is open tomorrow so may not be able to get a second bottle until tomorrow after work.

Thank you Carine, I will try to buy some from my LFS tomorrow but bear in mind, I live in Upper Hutt - nuff said...... so an alternative to the sintered glass would be good I'd love to see tanks from 100 years ago :bounce:
