  1. Or they show off their colours to compete for attention... of the opposite sex. In Mystics case the blue rams are just showing her that they can change the colours of their Tattoos at anytime they like  :bounce: :bounce:

  7. not barky at all.. maybe the odd small bit but otherwise it is like potting mix. have had no trouble with it at all (Yet....*touch wood*) No contamination as yet... and I haven't got legionaires either
  8. Livebearer Breeder. I just use the compost from The Warehouse. It is currently on special at $9 for 3 bags of the stuff and it doesn't contain any fertilizer. I use it in my 3 boxes of white worms with no ill effects either with the worms or with my fish that I feed them to. Just add a little bit more water to make sure that the compost is moist and cool.
  9. :bounce:    That was funny
  10. I'm trying to raise more orandas too, but I would not go to the extent of trimming the Wen

    Blue Ram Eggs

thanks all. yeah I will post some picks of the eggs and fry, just as soon as I can find a digital camera. bit short of funds at the moment. been spending on MORE tanks so that I can house the fry (when I get them) and looking at trying my hand at breeding cardinal Tetras.
  12. I personally would just leave the fish alone. IF it covers its eyes then leave it be. some fish have no eyes and they survive :-?

    Table top Stregnth

yep cut the legs off and put some extra supports inthe middle of the doors. Mdf will do the job nicely. I have done that too.
  16. your standard comet would do quite well on gambusia. I know that they do like to chomp on the odd guppy or 6  Not that I have done it
  17. I personally would not keep angels and discus together as angels tend to give the discus worms which is not what you want. Others may say otherwise and have had angels and discus together with no problems. Your choice really. but I think a tank full of only discus looks so much better.

    Blue Ram Eggs

Yeah... not good but the 2 females are fattening up quite nicely...not sure whether it is due to eggs or due to daphnia and lots of whiteworms

    Blue Ram Eggs

Thanks for all the responses. Dogmatix, the Rams are currently in their own 40L tank, however I do have 2 pairs in there. I have done some reading and others have pm me that their recommendation is to remove the female after 2 weeks or the female would chomp on the kids. Males do all the minding. Thanks all. More info would be appreciated. Cheers Wok
  22. Yay, Just saw that the 2 pairs of blue rams I got last weekend have laid their first batch of eggs for me. :bounce: :bounce: I knew they were up to something when the top of their terracotta containers were cleaned up of peat. Now that I have eggs what do I do now? :-? Brineshrimp is constantly on the go, so no problems there, green water is available by the bathtub lots. do I need to take the adults out? if so... anyone got a spare tank?
  23. I will place my bet on the Guppy
