  3. I did have a chocolate cichlid that protected gourami fry. Even the daddy gourami got chased away. Unfortunately in the evening something ate the fry

  5. I have left my tanks alone for 2 weeks. all fish were fine. Can't say the same about the fries that were in there though.

  8. I usually keep my dish in for a couple weeks then take it out Strain out the water and then have a rummage through the peat. eggs should be round and clear.
  9. kids can easily be entertained. Just get someone to bring their portable dvd player and show Finding Nemo. simple
  10. I have never bothered to deliberately feed the fry. they just keep on coming. have got heaps at the moment. Then again my tanks are on a window sill with indian fern growing out of the tanks.

    I have never boiled my Peat. Just straight into the container with water. once swollen, into the tank. No probs to date

  22. Most of my HOB filters have been 2nd hand and they work a treat. Then again I only buy Clearview HOB filters. Canister Filters I tend to stick with Fluvals as they have worked well for me.

    It comes down to the type of carpet as well and the underlay. Woollen carpets bounce back faster than nylon carpets but even then it takes a couple years. I had a 3ft tank (3 x 1.5 x1.5 ft) only on 2 edges of 18mm custom wood and that left an imprint in my carpet for 2 years.. the tank was in the same place for 2 years. Now you can't see it. But I agree with the others before me... Best if you can spread the weight of the tank as much as you can. Placing a board of customwood or Ply underneath a tank will definitely help protect the carpet.
