Just been looking at my tank in the garage and noticed I had quite a few gourami fry and they are around 3mm long.. So it seems they have been around for a while :lol:

My striped convicts I dumped into a tank at work on Monday have spawned tank only in operation for 1 week... had 12 wcmm to do the cycling for me. think there are only 8 now

I lied.. pulled some stuff out of the tank and saw 8 little bristlenoses still swimming around. Unfortunately not enough for a registered breeding :-?

I had to take the eggs out of the tank or the white convicts may of had Caviar. put the eggs in their own tank with some methyl blue. but didnt change the water :oops:

Normal bristlenose. Bugger... forgot to do some water changes... all died I think. didn't go for courgette either. Oh well... guess I need to wait another 5 years for more. At least I did find 2 baby GBA the other day and they were 2cm long. Don't ask me where they came from... didn't see any eggs. :-?

the more specialised filter material is porous so even more bacteria can grow. You do not need to throw out your filter media.. a good rinse to get rid of the large stuff and you will be right as rain. I have got media in some of my filters that are 7 years old. and still going. I would recommend the Eheim Substrate, bit expensive but works really well IMO Aqua One do some cheaper media which I guess is ok.. only just started to use it so no feed back from me yet.

should be fine also get some JBL Pleco chips. they like that too

you could... but I would advise against Main reason being that the carpet would rot if you spill water on it... not so good if your tank sprang a leak either.
