  1. Barrie, and Alanmin4304 are really knowledgeable, young fellas. If you have any problems or queries, these are your go to people, also I must not forget ej and Casserole. Of course there is me, who can offer you moral support. As Barrie and Alan have said, Join up with the NZKA (New Zealand Killifish Association), and you can get more help as well as access to some reasonably cheap stuff.

  3. Ah... Yes. forgot to post here yesterday about it, Even though I spent all of yesterday tending a stall at the Chinese New Year festival and Market day at the ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane :oops: and to all my married friends and relations, Kung Hei Fat Choy (to those that don't know, today is the day where the married people give little red packets filled with money to those that are still "young" and single) I will be a poor man by the end of the day.

Unfortunately I can't afford the lovely electric Blue jack dempsey, mine are only the normal jack dempsey I lost the second lot of fry now Anyone have ideas on how to stop this, the tank is not planted. Would a piece of paper covering the front of the tank help stop spooking the parents? :roll:

  9. a really nice icing is GANACHE 1 tub of thickened Cream 1 packet chocolate buttons. (375gm approx, I use a packet of the PAMS chocolate buttons) Heat cream till it bubbles reduce heat and mix in chocolate buttons till all melted Pour over cake. and most important of all, lick spoon :lol: :lol:

  14. The number of free swimming baby Jack Dempseys has dropped dramatically. Can only see around 15 at the moment Have to wait and see i guess. :roll:
  15. Jags had spawned again yesterday, but already over half the eggs have gone white Maybe this is a test run and they will lay eggs again soon :roll:
  16. Thanks DiscusGuru, I have a blue water Barrel..... ....David R has it at the moment, I am sure he will return it :roll: I should be heading over the shore sometime this weekend, more than likely on Sunday, so will drop off some daphnia for ya.
  17. The Jags look promising they have been doing a lot of excavation work as well as cleaning their piece of schist. So fingers crossed it won't be too far away

  19. Thanks rabbit. They are now nearly swimming all around the tank. Had to take out the other 2 Jack dempseys in the tank too Now the tank has the Jack Dempsey parents and some GBA's

  22. The parents got hungry while I was away for a week. and they scoffed the lot. I however have around 6 in a seperate tank which are doing well. Shame, I could of been in the 40's
  23. I had noticed eggs before Xmas, and now a week later I can now see heaps of little fry in the tank. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Best thing of all is that I have a heap of Daphnia ready for them too.

    Killies at HFF

    Very few of my killies ever jumped. they are still reminders for all other killies of what will happen to them if they jump.
  25. They are now around 1.5cm now, and are all accounted for. Next spawn you can have some david. Swap it with a a blue barrel...LOL
