  1. That one sold for $74. Does anyone know of one I can buy here in NZ? I'd rather the money went into our economy if I can.
  2. I agree, I wouldn't put 2 pairs together after knowing how aggressive my male was; he'd give my angels a run for their money!
  3. They're great little fish, and getting a breeding pair and trying to breed them is a great challenge. You should try giving it a go, there's a few people on here who have got babies. My male died recently, but they got wrigglers a few times, and it's so great to watch!
  4. Does anyone know Stu ? I bought a skimmer from him, and he hasn't PMed/email/posted the skimmer. It's been a couple of weeks, and I need it now.
  5. Loaches really need to be in a big tank in big (>5) groups. Angels would be ok, depending on their individual temperaments. You're best to get 6 - 8 angels, they tend to be less aggressive in groups.
  6. Congrats for the angel babies! You can also get rid of the film with a paper towel over the top, or maybe a fine weave net. Do make sure you increase agitation (put your spray bar out of the water), that will help really quickly.
  7. Pretty similar to what Barrie said; I don't think it'll smash that easily, Aquatopia, it's got that wire through it that will shop chunks break out of it.
  8. Yeah, I think your best bet is taking it to a glass person or someone who knows that they're doing. On here, Barrie's our glass man, so he'll have the best ideas about getting it out.
  9. Yeah, you'd have to prove negligence or that you suffered from actual physical or psychiatric harm. Your best bet is trying to get it sorted out internally.
  10. Hmmm. I always start the syphon with my mouth, but don't ever get any more than a couple of drips in my mouth.
  11. Lol!!! So, OP, so you understand how to sex them now?
  12. Hah!!! So that's what it is! I've only got it on near the bottom of my tank too, funny how it grows there! I've been syphoning it out, but it keeps coming back. I'll try a blackout too, and see how it goes.
  13. Maybe put them near a coin or something? I'm so amazed at how much they look like adults but are tiny!
  14. Can you put them on your hand or something and take a pic? I can't imagine them being so tiny!!!
  15. Sometimes they just won't pair up. Often 2 females will pair up and lay, but males generally won't. What's their behaviour like? Are they aggressive?
  16. Get a paint scraper. You need to put a bit of effort into it, but keep in mind that old silicone is MUCH easier to get off than new silicone. I learned this after getting silicone ALL over the inside of the tank and having to scrape it off!
  17. More to the point, we pay too much for most of them to ever be eaten. Unless you're eating something like guppies, you'll never be able to afford to eat them!!
  18. Pisces. My bf and are were born on the same day and year, so both Pisces. I love fish, he tolerates them.
  19. Just as an aside, your tank is quite new and you've recently struggled with ammonia problems; ignoring the size issue, I'd wait for longer after establishing a tank before putting discus in.
  20. I think your best bet is to buy the house next door and convert it into a massive tank. Think, all that money injected into our economy will really help the recession situation.
  21. Huge! It'd need to be more than 50cm wide; say 80cm min. Then isn't the minimum length 5x the length of the fish or something?
  22. Oh...I was busy trying to figure out why you'd have an overflow but no sump!
  23. I'm considering doing that. Seems like such a waste to put a shrimp in there, my fish would happily eat it!
