  1. 5drops = 1 mL. personally I used a lot of PMDD. more like 10 - 15 mL about 4-5 times a week, but then again I had to experiment and i fully realised the consequences of adding all those nitrogenous compounds into the tank. luckily there were no adverse effects in my tank, and no algae blooms - but BEWARE algae blooms are one of the most common side effects of adding it to a tank. what I did was use the silver coloured stress coat bottle (dark as it is opaque) and mixed all of my mix in there. compound 2 was mixed separately in another container, and that way i had a more concentrated soln. and could regulate how much of what was going onto the tank.
  2. the reason they are causing such problems is because that is what they do. Ive had to rehome nic's even though they are considered rare here in the manawatu - simply because i was having faaarr too many issues with them. to solve your problems, either remove the nic's or put them in a much larger tank. not much can be done really, such is their nature.
  3. ah yes. got to love aquatic plants. im considering getting a LOT of anubias species, and re planting the anubias hastifolia in the tank. yeah, next tank shall be a pleco tank im currently building up those pleco numbers. aren't they just the neatest fish? I think I have 20 of the original 25 that I got, but now I can see 1 holding. I think its too late for me to add more, but ideally i would like some more.
  4. sentence those damn (insert as many profanities as you can here) ** to death by chinese torture. Sickos. I hope someone rings their necks like they did the birds.
  5. Dude!- you are a danger! I like the way he thinks. ha hahaahha.   naah im kidding. we can't be selective in what we WAnt the fish to be. if its an L002 so it is. they're an awesome fish what ever they are so im happy as. im just happy im part of these forums so i could get an ID on the fish instead of buying them without knowing and then mucking everything up.
  6. yeah. the guys on PC also seem to think the same although L169 was another possibility at one stage. well best thing for me now is to take really good care of them and see if any patters change. so far L002 is the consensus. Now i wonder how rare these are in NZ.
  7. another bird person why not take spike home too? or is he not for sale?
  8. mossie larvae. you're better off feeding them to your fish.
  9. yeah you know me. i open my mouth and the foot gets shoved straight in.
  10. the spots on the side make me think flower horn but still could be either or. nice looking fish though, he will be interesting to watch.
  11. yes i was joking ha ha.
  12. they don't break easy. I have 2 of them. one has been running for 3+ years now and no problems at all. if you maintain them by cleaning the impellors etc its all good.
  13. its as simple as choosing which line to use on some phones. line 1 and line 2. just choose what one you need and then make the call i think.
  14. 234236857 - looks like an auratus. 234235915 - is a red zebra. now i wait for the hybrid comments
  15. that's pretty cool man!
  16. oh gosh. looks like you may need another tank
  17. oooo! congrats! they are a neat fish. I loved mine. post lots of pics!!!
  18. yeah, its no good if you are using sand, but if you use gravel or a mixture of different sizes of gravel and sand it will work fine.
  19. erm.. yes and no really. they are not as spectacular as a flaring firemouth, but are way cooler than your average s. american cichlid - like angels, apistos and that sort. i still do like the american cichlids, but of all the africans the ones i really like are the male peacocks, yellows, dems and then there is the stuff we dont get here... i like some tangs like maleris and transpcriptus's cause they swim and do random upside down stuff.
  20. what store is this? and how much are the fish?
  21. Thanks! the lack of plant in the tank was driving me mental. 3 types of java fern in there now. hope these pics are ok. just took them. I also got a proper stand and hood for the tank, its pure black - but the tank will only be transferred on that at the end of the year when i move house.
  22. Must never resort to that. ever.
