  1. I think you will struggle to find the 250W ones. either 200W or 300W is what is commonly supplied here. I'd go for the 300W. I use a 300W in a 4ft 200L tank.
  2. is that a bristle nose?
  3. I do not think pheromones from one species of fish will make another want to spawn.
  4. They are doing really well, now eating earthworms, hikari aro pellets, colour-bits, heart and liver tucker, discus tucker and blood worms.
  5. they were on the list as ancistrus temminckii. they are not that however. what they are is a selectively bred form of normal albino bn's bred to be that ghostly white colour. retailed for the same price as normal albino bn's, so plenty should be around. I myself had a batch or 2 of them.. http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp11 ... 2Small.jpg
  6. That's a tad over the top  -.- The concentration of phenols in pine wood chips (let alone what is exposed to the animal) would not be enough to kill the lizard. its hardly enough to kill a rat. may not be particularly good for them (and im sure that has more to do with people safeguarding their investment as opposed to any thing else) but it wont kill the lizard. pine sprays on the other hand are a danger.
  7. hmm... its been years since ive eaten snails... they take too long to get that big though
  8. I hope this batch hatches, and I get lots of babies! I have lots of plans!
  9. pfft.. you need to get it into play first... not happening
  10. it was probably fake  was it jinzo or jinzo lord?
  11. Dunno if this helps, but the plecos on the list - big band tiger pleco are about $144 retail and are peckoltia sp. L140 The ones I have seen are absolutely stunning and of breeding age, which is pretty uncommon. If there are fishy specials in some stores, perhaps ask if you can purchase those fish under the special price? eg. buy 2 get 1 free... for the best L66, choc zebra, in the land you need to get in touch with mr.pleco  (fondly known as 'hypanboy' I believe)
  12. thymine. (nth is a mathematical term, as in to the nth power; n being a variable for a given number.)
  13. I paid sooo much money in 6th form to buy Jinzo  and the 3 egyptian god cards - which are illegal to play with but any how.... Ended up using them as bookmarks cause I didn't want them dented. least I made a staggering profit when I sold them, but im sure i still have jinzo floating around.
  14. Proteins are measured on a bio absorption index, as compared to the most readily acceptable and absorb-able protein - Egg white. So when your pet food contains say 40% protein, that may be so, but the key thing to find out is what source of protein the food uses because the body will not absorb all 100% of the available (40%) protein. depending on the pet food, millions are spent each year in the pet industry to raise the bio absorption of good groups by animals. unfortunately it is hard to classify all pets (say dogs for eg.) into 3 categories - small, medium, large - because their metabolisms differ, and thus the nutrient absorption will differ as well. Thus the introduction of breed specific foods, and the expansion of the three previous categories of dogs to five, now including toy and giant breed dogs. Then there is the pitfall that all dogs, even of the same breed are not the same. much like humans, some have faster metabolisms than others and thus are susceptible to different levels of nutrient absorption.
  15. No not here. Bumble bee goby and some SW ones are all we have.
  16. got the email! Rusty will probably (most certainly even) stay at home. with the bbq, people, outdoors, fire, meat, etc etc... there is to much room for error. That and i have no intention of having bird poop on me. oh and he won't try to steal my food cause he knows better than that (whacked him on the head with a sausage) but he will try to steal it off you lot.
  17. ah yes. that is a nice looking tank. If your fish don't care about the pH, neither should you. don't worry about the KH as you will need to adjust it with every WC if you do increase it, unless you use coral - no point really. the glosso looks good. it will spread out more, and grow well judging by the growth now. sag. subulata is a nice tall (potentially) plant, and is like a grass but it propagates via runners and keeping them in control making sure they do no grow all over the place; may be an issue. yeap. you can keep rams and cories. lots and lots of cories  proper planted tanks - not your average planted tanks, or tanks with plants in them need to have great filters. water quality is key, as is water clarity. if you can go for an external filter, go for one without doubt. It is customary to go for an eheim on a planted tank  because any thing else is the work of the devil.
  18. It's all about proportions. the amount of protein does not change, but relative to the moisture contents before and after - the amount of protein appears to increase. I suspect the bio-absorption of this protein is also proportionally higher.
  19. I'm in a particularly capitalistic mood these days  I'm a sell them! :-? make thousands @$1 ea. Ching Ching!!! I wouldn't mind feeding them to the puffers, but I may get all "awwww" like on them and not feed them cause I've reared them myself  (but I'm counting my snails before they have hatched! )
  20. yep, bred them before  I have the perfect tank for them. but in 2-4 week im going to have snails coming out my ears!
  21. shush you. nick is about to wet his pants in anticipation
